That divorce went more smoothly than i expected.... Good thing he has money now, kinda.

But if they keep bringing that money of unknown origin, they will be under investigation by fraud office/whatever office is responsible for this, or even the japanese fbi as one would think that they're making too much money off of random antics so they must be using them for shady deals (such as using them to smuggle drugs and stuff by stuffing said antics...who knows...)

I'm trying to think about how different this story would be without the divorce/cheating wife plot point and I think that it wouldn't be that different.

@NotLazy They're keeping it all in cash though, so it's essentially untraceable. I suppose there's the question of how the conversion machine works, since bills have serial numbers. He is counterfeiting money, but I assume they're "perfect" aside from the serial number.

Also, I'm disappointed with the whole wife deal. How did they get married in the first place? Is there a custom of marrying perfect strangers in Japan? It's not the first manga I read were the MC has just "gotten married" with someone they know nothing about and don't seem to have any kind of relationship with.

Well, I kinda was waiting for some more drama with the wife, pretty mature way to end things. Not gonna complain about it.

@raidanzoup in all honesty, just getting the other person out of your life cleanly is a blessing. our family had a few friends who went through nightmares with divorce for months and one had kids so the bullshit went on for years afterwards. If you can just take what you put in and leave, its all I would want.

@Siikalahna pushover... not so much. think of it this way, not sure how it is in japan but if shit gets messy, that's a lot of court dates, dates he may not be able to attend, and when you are in a relationship that isn't working, you know a long time in advance that its not working, you only delude yourself into thinking something can be done, so long as the other party isn't deep dicking you, just a clean break is best.
yeah exactly, some people just want peace of mind, and even being with their so fucks them up mentally, this guy doesn't need any of it.

I mean, it'd be really dumb if he needed the money, i. e. if he wasn't able to get ultra-rich from arbitrage trading with the other world. But since he's now loaded, he can certainly afford to just dump his assets on her.

What I really wanna know though is, how did the wife manage to fall out of love with him and fall in love with someone else in just three months of marriage? That's like speedrunning a divorce.

This can't be the full end of his marriage. It seems like it was put in the story for a reason more than what it has served thusly. Something is going to come back from this to either make them fall in love again, or make extra drama as the ex wife keeps popping into his life somehow. If this is all it was going to be for, it would have been better to just gloss over everything from the start.
I had the same thought as you and skimmed through ever released chapter and honestly it feels like the author had an idea but caved when the comments rolled in so he just cut her out of the story. Hes sad for like 2 chapters then Emi never comes up again.

I feel like the stuff with his wife was over too quickly. I mean, if it has no impact on the narrative, why have it at all. With how much we saw her, he might as well have been single.

I gotta say plot wise, the marriage really only seemed to serve the purpose of giving the MC a reason to be reserved. :thonk:

To make it short : The person who got hurt will let his/her heart to move on quickly while the person who hurt their other half will regret it afterwards while moving on is reverse.
Actually it's the other way around speaking both from experience and psychological standpoint.
People who cheat usually already don't love their partner at most they are afraid that their reputation might be ruined or their life will change.
Women though to rub the salt to injury actually blame external factors (their men) for their cheating behaviour. Men tend to internalize the reason for cheating.

So to sum it up: What you've said is what we wish for but that's actually not what happening. It only happens when the partner they cheated on has a better life and their personal life is in gutters. They start to ask questions why is that and after some introspection usually come to a conclusion that their cheating or bad character was the factor. + Add the psychological factor of externalizing and internalizing and women tend to blame not themselves but the partner they cheated with (before that in many cases they find fault in the partner they cheated on).

So unless we or society punishes cheaters they live quite a good life, better at least than the partner who was cheated on.

Also in Japan cheaters must pay monetary compensation and division of assets goes to someone who was cheated on.

He could have amicable divorce with 60/40 in his favor due to her cheating and i doubt she would argue. (It's not so shitty as it is in USA, USA is a dumpster fire with marriage laws, whilst some laws are old others are new. So essentially cheaters get rewarded for cheating, backwards country(or at least many states))

So in conclusion: He could do it amicably and still make it a bit painful for a cheater (he could go scorched earth and she would weep from pain but that requires effort even in Japan).
I have a policy, if someone wronged me i need to repay them in kind.

If you don't punish someone who wronged you, you just enabled their behaviour. Congrats you contributed negativity towards our society. Likely cheating behaviour will save in cheaters DNA as a "good" thing. Cheating caused emotional explosion and didn't get punished but gotten rewarded instead our DNA will now save "those same emotions" or "pattern" as good thing to your offspring. So both psychologically and LIKELY in her DNA, cheating behaviour will be reinforced.
