Which "mage girl" are you talking about?
The black haired girl with glasses, who didn't reveal she could cast water magic when the possessed princess grabbed her. The way her eyes went dull on p8, and how Riku was led directly into the xenomorph trap, makes me concerned.

Are you sure you’re not just overthinking?
im pretty sure that she is just relaxing after Riku told her he is coming to save her, you know, he taught her magic after she was told that she was just an extra with no power and now she can defend her self or in this case escape jail if she needs to, he is showing that he worries about her.

You're overthinking things. That was her eyes relaxing out of relief as she know Riku will handle the situation

Edit: Freya is best girl I ship it

Wait, you mean the panel where she was smiling after hearing that he's coming for her? I honestly don't see any "dull" eyes here or any other signs that she might be acting suspiciously. Also, remember that she wasn't the one who lead himm to the statue, she kept saying she does not know where they are. It was one of the other prisoners that volunteered that info.

Such a convenient place to have a hole for a sack used to blind someone.
It bullshit but i rather accept that than creating some plotholes on why he suddenly know where the hidden prison. We can assume that the guard is incompetent, somebody inside creates opening, magic bs, or maybe some twist that the merchant is actually antagonist (not likely)
