You know what? Weird credit where it's due. It doesn't seem like mom was getting blamed for having a black-haired child at all despite the ostracization of them.

Considering they're cozily sipping wine together, their relationship seems fine.

In fact, why doesn't Yumellia have any siblings? Are they afraid of producing more black-haired children?

One of the few times when Yumiella's reputation, and the general prejudice against black hair, is actually working for her. The parents dislike and also fear her so much that they know or want to know very little about her life, to the point of not even knowing her exact looks. She could intimidate them into submission quite easily thanks to that.

The f*cking loser whines that he is mocked as a "fake noble from the capital", but acts 100% to back up the moniker...

That's probably most plausible explanation, though I suspect same as vast majority of fantasy and fiction writers they just don't have many examples to observe and portray from real life.
I find it as inevitable flaw, so I don't pay attention when dystopian or medieval world have single child family even in extreme case if death toll of a world would consist of several world populations for last hundred of years.
