I too thought that, I think Saki could mean both impure as in her feelings but also what she wants to do with Kanon. She has been holding back since their sleep over.To be honest, when Saki was going on about what they would do when dating, her love being different from Kanon's, and being impure, I thought she was about to admit that she wanted to have sex with Kanon. Then this panel came up:![]()
And in the split second before my brain was able to register that it was middle school Saki standing behind herself, I thought that she was going to blurt it out with maybe Rinne or Kanon's mom standing there. We managed to avoid an awkwardness nuke.
Anyways, Kanon clutched tf out of this interaction.
Exactly!really really cool to have Kanon hug Saki in such a way that she can't hear Saki's rejections because it's so utterly clear Saki is only doing this whole song and dance out of internalized homophobia.
So Kanon says "nope don't wanna hear in fact I can't! Get loved idiot!"
I dont know, the way i see things like this is always the way they are raised and the sorta generational trauma the mother had thats unresolve and got pass on to saki. Even i thought its exaggerated but its actually good that its dealt early, most people deal with it with projections rather than self reflection and they dont get to settle it and then give birth to children, pass the problem to them to resolve. The thing with unresolved issues of parents is its passed on subtly, it may seem like its good and peaceful but there are micro-actions and reactions that shaped her or anyone subconsciously.Saki's self sabotage is a bit extreme.
the last two chapters have generally felt a bit extreme to me, or is it just me who thinks that Saki is completely exaggerating way too much?
I think if you've never experienced the self-loathing that comes with being a closeted gay you might not understand how absolutely soul crushing it can be. Just speaking from my own experience here but I really relate to Saki, the feeling that there's something fundamentally wrong with the way you are can really sabotage your relationships (even the non-sexual ones).
You think a decade or more of self-loathing is going to disappear in an instant just because the girl she loves confessed to her? If only it were so easy. That shit stays with you for a long time, even when it’s not warranted.sure, i can see that, but even then you'd have a different reaction to the person you love confessing their feelings to you.
she heavily projected onto her friend, it got resolved.
she heavily projected onto her mother, it got resolved.
now she's heavily projecting onto the girl she loves who confessed her own feelings to her?
no.
at some point it needs to stop or the person is unsalvagable.
