He was raised in a sexless and pretty much emotionless household. He has no prior context to suggest his reactions to her are anything but aberrant and disgusting -- especially considering she herself expressed such opinions about such things (and acted horribly upon such opinions) in the early parts of the story and, until just now, had failed to communicate her change of heart to him in any way, giving him plenty of reason to think he'd be hated. Is he trying to become a monk? It is good to get turned on by your partner.
Dangers In My Heart carried on with this for a hella long time until the leads eventually get stranded together in a love hotel and the ML rejects all physical contact with his FL GF -- even rejecting her wish to undress and shower for him to enjoy -- until, to help get her through her frustration, sadness and anger, he explains directly how her presence has been making him battle-ready since long before they began dating officially, causing him to feel both ashamed and dangerous. A long discussion between the two (similar to this one) finally cleared the air, leaving him finally aware she was aware of his circumstances but not his fears. She was able to get him to understand she accepted him in that state -- that she was happy she could bring him to that state -- and that she wanted to make use of that fact just as soon as he was ready.Never have I encountered a character literally this afraid of his own boner.
I feel like Ichikawa's handle on the situation is far better written and more justified than here. Ichikawa understands what's at stake for Anna's future given she's a rising idol and the toxic press coverage that goes along with it when romance is involved. Not to mention, they're still middle schoolers. By contrast this guy is a high schooler, desperately trying to deny his and his gf's sexuality so hard purely out of some self imposed righteous bullshit with no real stakes at play otherwise. He's becoming kinda insufferable when fmc who's already redeemed herself for her scheming past and is laying herself bare before him in every sense and he still wont reciprocate.Dangers In My Heart carried on with this for a hella long time until the leads eventually get stranded together in a love hotel and the ML rejects all physical contact with his FL GF -- even rejecting her wish to undress and shower for him to enjoy -- until, to help get her through her frustration, sadness and anger, he explains directly how her presence has been making him battle-ready since long before they began dating officially, causing him to feel both ashamed and dangerous. A few chapters later, he slept over and they spent the night hanging out at second base. Which may point a direction for this title to follow.
This guy was operating under a partially false conception: that this girl wanted a pure relationship and was scared of men due to past experiences with creeps. He wanted to be better than those guys and feels he's failed to meet her expectations, so he freaked out due to his hidebound nature. I'd say it's apples and oranges.I feel like Ichikawa's handle on the situation is far better written and more justified than here. Author needs to stop edging herself and us and move this along.
That is true. Hopefully the air is clear now and they can move forward. This guy was operating under a partially false conception: that this girl wanted a pure relationship and was scared of men due to past experiences with creeps. DW, I'm talking about the kiss, not anything else.Nope, this one is all on him, he kept making excuses after excuses, then despite her opening up like that he just kept assuming she was lying just to make him feel better
