"not completely socially inept".... Literally, in the past, the manga shows us how she only interacts with Orochi, while the rest of the time she is always alone xDD. Aside from Orochi, only the ex-boyfriend.
There's a difference between showing us she only interacting with two people, and only showing us two people she interacted with. The point of the flashback wasn't to give us a complete view of her life, it was to show the highlights which contributed to her trauma. The evidence of her lack of social ineptitude is her portrayal in the manga as a whole where she's shown to publicly appear to be a well put together woman with a successful career

What isn't shown or stated in a manga is left to the reader's imagination and is, ultimately, open to debate.

What is known, however, is that ever since her father traumatized her, Hizumi barely interacted with anyone; her personality had changed radically, and she didn't trust people, only Orochi.

While i don’t think it matters if he is her first or not if they just ends up together and have a family (who cares about first time if she is going to have his baby). I don’t think Hizumi is that good of a person to Shinba even because of her past. I hope both Shinba and Hizumi changes to better people and a healthy couple at the end.

I mean, both of them are wrong... But his wife really did neglect the shit out of him, so I can understand why he started getting more involved with people who actually seemed interested in what he had to say, especially when his own wife clearly didn't care much about those things.

But at the same time... he became a fucking horrible person. Both of them are awful for neglecting their daughter and for what they did later. Both. But her father, dude... I wanted to punch the shit out of that asshole. Like, she was nothing to him? SERIOUSLY? I can somewhat understand him being bitter toward his wife, but his own daughter? Nah. I really hope he got fucked over.

And her mother projecting the shit out of her own failures onto her own daughter is also absurd. She has absolutely no right to act like she's somehow above all this and in the right. Control narcisistic freak.

Thanks for the translation and for the final notes! <3
They're both equally shitty, can't really say one is worse than the other, but if I had to pick it would be the wife. Wife started everything out by being the complete shit bag who never came home and left EVERYTHING to the husband. Never once cared for her daughter as a mother, and did nothing but work and never came home. That would drive any partner insane, and would also be devastating to the child. That's not just neglect, that's abandoning your child and husband for your own career. She's someone who should have never gotten married in the first place, she was never about family so why even fucking make a family in the first place if you're going to neglect and abandon them? She 100% deserve getting cheated on and divorced, and having the daughter coldly reject her as family. However, the FMC should have done more, should have dropped some lines about she was nothing like a mother or a wife and deserved everything she got, and to never even pretend to be a mother who cares about her, or even pretend to be her mother at all. She was married to her work, she can die with her work alone.

The father's shittiness is solely about abandoning his daughter. I guess he built up some level of resentment too towards the daughter, as he's stuck having to do everything for her and be a father AND mother to her while dealing with a wife who's done nothing but neglect him. To some degree, I still understand him a little more. Still, it's crazy that he would completely abandon his daughter, and he too doesn't deserve any filial love from the FMC. And he definitely has a part in the type of person he became, he shares in that responsibility. Still, he was a monster that was created, one where the wife created. If the wife probably even tried just 50% to be more present and caring, it wouldn't have turned out this way. What the father should have done was, the moment he noticed that he was gaining popularity, divorce the wife and take half of her assets as she probably was the one who made the most. Destroy what she gave her life to build by sacrificing her family, then take that money, remarry whoever he wants too, and live a new life with his daughter and new wife, with a blossoming career.

all i see is two garbage pieces of shit human beings who don't deserve to call themselves parents, specially for the last goodbye the "father" said to hizumi and for the "mother" trying to use the fact that he was only able to change because hizumi helped him in the first place to throw all the blame on her and now all of a sudden she comes back wanting to be a mother only to make her suffer again and force her to move away from the only person who stood by her side at all times

Papa is a cheater for sure but with that much time the mom spend working outside there a fucking high chance that she cheated too eventhou if its just a physical relationship. When the situation was flip where the mom getting the 'i am busy' treatment, i say served her right! Now savor the feeling of your patner who always absent in your life. Like that one papa birthday party she eargerly prepared just to get shutdown like that, satisfying af. Also, when papa eargerly talked about his work and achievement you dismissed him like it was annoying. He just want you to be proud of him like how he was proud of your work. There one time when she going home drunk saying its a hassle to entertain old men (i know they just drinking), but what would your husband think about that. A deserved ending for cold shit wife. Both are shit and guilty but there always a trigger. No wonder fml turned out to be like that and the exbf has to add a fucking massive gallon fuel to the fire at that.

Honestly, I don't think Hizumi not being a virgin is an chronic issue. Obviously, it would be better if both could share their first time with each other, as there's nothing more romantic than sharing that with the person you love and wants to stay till the end of your lives. Unfortunately, she had a bad upbringing. Her parents clearly didn't give her advice on how to handle a romantic relationship. Even so, she's only had one boyfriend, so it's not like she's a promiscuous slut. In a way, she did the best she could with her limited knowledge, but unfortunately, she was cheated on and had to move on.

My problem is, first, the slightly cuckolded way the author portrayed her on top of her ex in an ecchi pose while we, the readers, are rooting for the simp Shinba. Second, it's what she became after being NTRd and how she interacts with Shinba. She humiliates him constantly and then gives him crumbs of affection through this possessive relationship. Let's be honest and recap the context: At first, she used him as nothing more than a rebound to replace her ex or need for love. Shinba is just a copy she designed to substitute her ex, a version 2.0 where she learned the bugs and fixed them. He definitely doesn't deserve this treatment.

Look, I think Hizumi absolutely deserves to be happy, and her parents were horrible, but I don't think she deserves Shinba, mostly because of who he is. He's too good of a guy!
Man, even with the scarf, she knitted one by hand for her ex, but for Shinba, she just recycled the same idea lazily by buying one. Shinba deserves someone better without a doubt. Hizumi can move on and fix her mistakes, but I think Shinba would be a thousand times better off with his actress childhood friend. Hizumi doesn't need a man, she needs a therapist. After that stage, she can try a >>NEW<< relationship. But we all know that won't happen. Shinba will still be an idiot until the very end and will accept all her flaws like the simp he is, after all, this work is pure self-insert from the author.

Authors know you put yourself in the shoes of the protagonist (Shinba). All the provocative scenes where Hizumi humiliates herself for her ex are meant to make you uncomfortable, just like Berserk and the infamous Eclipse scene did for example. Here, it’s no different. The author >pseudo-cuckolded< this story by showing her intimate scene with her ex. I really miss when this manga was lighter. The drama has become WAAAAY too over-the-top, and the ending won't be satisfying in my opinion... it's actually pretty predictable.

I don't like reading romcoms with overly exaggerated dramas, mainly because of the abrupt shifts in tone between 'comedy' with chibi faces, and heavy 'dramatic' chapters like this one. The script structure becomes a Frankenstein's monster in my opinion...

That being said, I'll go back to my peak romcom BokuYaba now.

MC is a loser but even someone like him still deserves better than getting together with a walking timebomb like Hizumi

But I have a feeling the author will go for the Kimizero route and magically have the male mc being fine and dandy with female mc fucked up situation all the way to the end

Sadly only Orichi is the best person for Shinba to be with. She encourages him to get out from his comfort zone.
Unlike Hizumi who sees Shinba as a rebound bf and Miyabi who sees him more like a pet.

Imagine being so pathetic and insecure that you cry about a woman having experience. She wasn't a sex worker; she wasn't someone who whored herself out to countless men. She was someone who was in love with a dude and was desperate to make them stay. Anyone who believes she's 'used goods' shows that they view women as objects for sex. Placing so much importance on virginity in this context is the type of shit that people ought to get bullied for. If you have severe a lack of self-esteem and constantly subject yourself to a cuck mentality, no need to air it out lol.

Who cares if she's no longer a virgin? It's pretty obvious since day 1. Also, man, I feel bad for Shinba. Sure, it may seem to look good for both of them now, but hey, if Shinba hadn't met Hizumi, Shinba might have had a different fate with Orochi. But it is what it is.

What lies beneath is just a lonely and hopeless girl desperately clinging to someone where she deems as her one and only sanctuary. The real "dame ningen" of this series. That itself is what I find the saddest part of this chapter and I think this is what Iwaba is trying to convey to its readers. That psychological tag was there for a reason.
It also seems like the author is saying, the way to love a loser is to hold space for his expanding world. If you think about it. Shinba did it to Hizumi first!
