So "desire" is something that can be regenerated after it gone?

Something is not aligned with winged lion backstory about it being disappointed after having its victim being selfless husk after their desires eaten
It's basically the same as the anhedonia you feel because of instant gratification all the time. Stuff like 4chan, reddit, facebook, snapchat, instagram, they all give you a dopamine rush for responses. Video games that grinds the rewarding system like mmorpgs and gatchas. Porn. Hentai. Manga. It's all super stimulants that in the end make you feel empty.

The only way to really recover from it, is to remove it as much as you can from your life and stop doing stuff that gives you instant gratification. Work out, hang out with friends, do hobbies, get outside. Recover your dopamine receptors again.

I am happy that Mithrun has found the will to live again, the scar never fades but you can still be yourself.

We(people) don't live in a vacuum, no matter how antisocial or afflicted by any other problem, we thrive with the stimuli we get from interactions, and sometimes those interactions bring us back even when we are most "empty".

There is too a very clear difference in Mithrun's case that could have been why he bounced back so easily with the right "stimuli"... he wasn't completely empty, there was still something there to serve as "soil" so the reasons given by Kabru took roots, and coupled with his own conclusions about his "last desire" and Senshi's AMAZING XD example, he really found the will to live again.

If we look back to what the Captain said, it seems there is a leftover desire that wasnt consumed. And its what made him function a bit.

And looks like that leftover desire can grow. Like the Leftover Carrot top explained by Senshi.

That little bit about the Demon being "Mana's Personality" rings really true for me

If you remember back to when Laios first became lord of the dungeon and wished "For a world without demons" it responded with "So you want to use Magic to bring back your sister but make everyone else live in a world without it?" Even at the time I thought that was a weird sentence, but chalked it up to the Demon's honeyed words. It also more concretely links the Winged Lion knowing Mithrun. The analogy was that every demon is like a hair all coming from the same creature, but I didn't quite expect that "creature" to be magic itself.

Even though we know that
1. Dungeons Tapped into another world of infinite Mana
and
2. The Demon apparently came from that world
There wasn't a concrete reason to think ALL magic came from that world, but it seems like that probably is the case.
Mana came from that world, spread, integrated into life and biomes, devoloped a consciousness as the demon, and would have been gone forever if the demon was truly killed.
