MC is pissed the human saintess messed up. In Scar's view, the saintess is either incompetent, against elves, or uncaring towards elf casualties, all of which indicate working with the saintess isn't a good idea. That's why MC proposes cards in return for helping, as opposed to an alliance (with a potential incompetent or traitor).

(I'm going to refer to MC as "she" because it's easier for grammar)

Also, I'm pretty sure the MC never changed personality. She wasn't squeamish in the early fights at all, and was mostly able to lead capably in the middle of a fight (not possible w/o life experience). I'm more confident her happy-go-lucky attitude is a front and she's the type to hide her sadness/anger/depression/emotional problems in general. I mean, she had to have SOME sort of coping mechanism for essentially getting bullied over her hobby.

@Legion_01 as far as I can tell MC is using only logic for their actions. They wanted to help beastmen for a potential trading partner and ally, on the other hand they're very aware humans are enemies and has a completely different attitude towards helping the saintess. I would choose to ignore her happy-go-lucky attitude which seems more of a front or coping mechanism. It would be interesting later on in the series if they have to deal with mental/emotional issues and finally open up and stop their happy-go-lucky attitude (they are WAY too competent to really be like that, and the backstory of eternally being bullied fits with having a fake personality to deal with people they meet).

Yeah saintess is a human alright... complete disregard for the elves lives unless it benefits herself.

I like how the MC isn't stupid and isn't rushing in for another attack on the orcs and instead wanted to build up resources before attacking again. Adds to the stategy. Sad that this only seems to have 12 chapters as I have been liking this series but I say thats just because I have played cards games before.

Thanks for the translation.

This shit is actually funny because you think of all the deck, white would be the one that can deal with big dumb creatures the best, especially the one with 1 toughness.

Let see: white have exile effect, prison effect, wrath effect, protection effect, fade effect, double strike, or hell even a 1/1 first strike. (for who don't know, first strike mean when combat happen, the one with first strike deal combat damage first then the opponent, double strike is first strike then another normal attack)

Also, the author actually figures out a way to include trade in this lmao. But we elf ball, why does he need white creature?

@devilpyro They only mistook the savage elf as an orc, and with his death the orcs were able to kill the other elves. Don't know how they managed to kill savage though, but I hope they at least acknowledge it at some point.

@Capt_Gigglepants Unless he's just trying to hamstring the saint's deck, it's possible that he ends up using some kind of mana-fixing card, if it's anything like MtG then elves can be pretty good at generating other colors of mana if they need to. But I kind of doubt that since it'd clash with the whole monogreen elf deck idea he's been going off of.

@Salfaro my hypothesis for how they killed the savage is that the knight had first strike, common ability for white creatures. and yeah, wouldnt put it past an elf deck to have a Birds of Paradise or Fertile Ground. Birds of Paradise would be fitting, in the sense that it would be a fitting animal companion for the MC.

IM still waiting to see what her ace is. Most elf decks build mana to summon something stupid big, or a maassivee swarm of something, or spam giant growth spells on 1 elf. Some kind of Green elemental or Giant Wurm, or a swarm of squirrels.

@Capt_Gigglepants He might have something like first strike, but when he attacked Savage we saw him displayed with a "instant kill black creatures" ability, which makes me think that either we were only being shown the ability the knight was activating right there (which doesn't make sense since Savage was a green creature), or all of the knight's total abilities were being shown to the reader then (so the sure-kill-black-creatures ability was its only one it has), so idk how likely it is.

Even if it did have something like first strike though it shouldn't matter, because Savage's ability (on top of buffing) was to make elves unattackable while on forest battlefields (unless the attackers also had the Forest Battle Technique ability), which is how they were surviving the attacks of the orc with 67 power until Savage got killed. Something like first strike shouldn't really help in a battle where you can't attack at all, but also he got his arm cut off by one of the harpies first, which seem like they're just typical weenie flyers without other special abilities, so idk how that one got a hit in either.

@Salfaro also, we cant take what we read at face value. These are fan translations (not exactly the best ive seen) and they could be screwing up the wording of the translations.

Yeah, the only thing I can think of that should have caused that kind of wipe is a 3 damage field nuke. Cause nothing says screw you concealment and shroud like the words" All creatures" on a sorcery or instant. Of course, given that the orcs are still a thing it would have had to have been TARGETED at a specific player, rather than a true battlefield effect (to be fair, a proper global effect would be utterly horrifying in a world that runs off of MTG rules). In which case, fuck that white player.

Huh, thinking on it a bit, I'd probably demand a pair of Ultra Rares off the white player after something like that if I thought of it. Cause even if I couldn't use it and they'd probably be rather bad if the player has a decent collection, I'd be salty enough to demand that out of spite. Besides they're UR, somone might have a decent elf to trade for those. Or maybe another Taunting Elf...

Eh, I guess it makes sense that such a blood knight would rather stay on the battlefield than be with a goddess. Still, that is quite the offer from the goddess. The elf waifu harem is back!

Letting the beastmen village fall is unfortunate, but such is war, some battles will always result in lots of deaths.

Demanding high tier cards as payment to help is fair, especially after the bullshit that idiot saint pulled.
