This would be more likely if Leilei cannot use magic when she's on our world as the intercepting dimensions there might be different.

I mean... Lelei isn't lying. Technically according to Lelei's peoples' belief/tradition, she IS is legal wife, on that side of the Gate anyway (having slept in the same room 3 times).
The others are aware of that and don't, or rather CAN'T refute it.

@Abetillo Yeah I've realized. It's been so long that I've forgotten about that case XD. This means their worlds are very similar, and maybe it's possible for people on the other side to learn magic? Or is there some special evolutionary trait that's only on the Special Region (SR) since they have gods basically controlling how SR grows. Since as @Golliboy stated there's a chance that both worlds could've just diverged on what path they took. SR discovered magic (probably due to other races that came from the GATE) and stopped tackling technological advancements that seriously, along with apostles actually killing those who do as the gods want that world to stagnate technologically. While our world never did discover magic and focused solely on scientific progress to compensate and in turn is more potent since if I recall Leilei stated that using natural laws to induce side effects are much powerful that forcing them via magic (grenade explosions vs magical explosions).

My theory is that the darkness is the region outside of both worlds that is exposed due to the distortion the world, however it would not explain why that only exists in the SR but not our world.

It's likely appearing in a different way on the other side, as the past chapters did say from the professors that there are alot of irregularities happening on Earth (wrong star aligments, earthquakes being more common etc...)

@RyoukoKonpaku in both worlds the stars are misaligned, and probably in both there are more earthquakes. The one both do not have as far as we know is the black fog/shadow.

About about the big divergence in both world advancements, i bet on a mix of Hardy opening the gate to other cultures and people forgot about wizardy, or maybe it is the elves are the ones that discovered magic and humans copied from that apear in other stories.
