The one he made here should be the 2nd stronghold in the middle? So this spot is roughly a day's distance from the next base (as he pointed out in the chapter that the base from yesterday is visible from here) as well as about half way to the location of their intended vanguard stronghold spot.

So in relation to the omitt wilderness it doesn't mean much, but on the bigger map it does.
