That would've been a deal breaker for me, like, incentive to murder type deal breaker. It's highly unethical and illegal where I'm from. MC has enough power to overwhelm the city by himself, he should at least take the count down a peg.

The fact that the daughter tried to go along with it would make me hate her outright. Thank fuck for his little furry friends. He should denounce her and scorn her publicly every time she tries to get near him.

They know Kento is a walking nuke stop poking it with sticks. Like the whole reason Kento goes to such lengths for that town is to provide a place his schoolmates can rally and begin preparations to return to Earth. Its only temporary and the town lord knows this. He also knows the Princess has forcefully summoned the Terrans to fight her trash wars now the town lord is doing to same with Kento using blackmail and his daughter.

Like I get it Kento doesn't want to be that edgy murder hobo (despite some folk of that world really deserve it). But there are ways to let those alien humans know; I'm a nice and reasonable guy but don't mess with me. I think him holding back against the princess and her kingdom is back firing him. Now the town lord thinks he can get away with his shenanigan's. Which he would have thought twice about it if Kento would have gone to murder town on the volzardians. (or at least have beaten the shit out of the guarding knights for example)

I have strange feelings about this. The dad is trying to offer up his daughter to incentivize mc to stay which should make him scum, but he hates doing it, he’s doing it for his people, and it’s what his daughter really wants which kinda makes pairing mc up with his daughter commendable. Though he did also try to frame mc for sleeping with her which is a whole other can of worms.

overall, I would say I like him more this chapter and I am curious what mc will do next. He’s basically a god in this world. Why go home? But if he has to go home, maybe he can find a way to leave his familiars behind to protect the city from monsters.

oh and I’m still getting a weird vibe that he‘ll marry the princess who summoned him somehow (He did already spy on her naked and pee on her).

Ehhhh... okay, since the author said so, I have no choice but to believe it. It would certainly be more realistic if she didn't, since she barely interacted with him before she declared her love, but okay.

Let's get him raging drunk, strip him down, and put him in bed with our daughter so we can try to lie about them sleeping together to coerce him into doing our bidding!"

Also note that the mother was disappointed that Beatrice didn't properly assault MC while he was passed out drunk.

Like I would never trust this family again. That was a blatant attempt at manipulation and they have the gall to be completely unapologetic about a plot to essentially rape MC and guilt trip/baby trap him to force him to stay. I'd be leaving to live in the woods after that.

first of all, you know that she is a character that the author wrote, right? also you know that the author making the mother say that, doesn't necessarily mean that the author believes that, right?

also, how would that be more realistic? yes, in the modern world, it might. But this is fantasy in a medieval setting, and she is a noble's daughter, which in medieval times it would be very rare for a noble's daughter to interact with men outside of parties. and besides, in medieval times 'love at first sight, after being saved' stories where very common, and also in those times, noble woman were getting manipulated in many ways (at least 'manipulated' for modern standards), for example their mothers saying things they should do or like since they were little.

because she barely interacted with him, doesn't mean she wouldn't think that 'she fell in love' with him.

Whew. Just got done shotgunning this thing over the last few hours.

Gotta say, it impresses me on quite a few levels That said...

Kent's psychology is well explored:

• He suffers from deep Abandonment Issues stemming from his broken home (which should be touched upon in 47.2).
• He suffers from post-traumatic stress from being devoured by goblins, with the most common trigger being gore.
• And, well, he's a 15 year old given tremendous power.

There is actually a psychoanalytical discussion on him in WN chapter 173:

Folks. Take it from someone who was treated like a piece of shit stuck to his stepfather's boot: that is legit. When you have a life like that, you're practically dying for company and recognition.

Though what the Lord's family did there is... Questionable. That's the sort of tactic you'd see in medieval Florence for crying out loud.

That said, though, I doubt they would have gone through with it if the girl didn't actually like the MC.

Besides, even if he does marry her? It is absolutely no guarantee that he'll stay there. Why? Because that country's monarch is fully capable of making the unilateral decision to post the MC up in another territory that he feels is in need of his abilities. And Papa-In-Law will have no choice but to swallow that one whole.

All other ulterior motives aside, I'm pretty sure the biggest factor in the decision to pull this stunt is that they want their daughter to be happy.

What I would love to see is for his psychological issues to come to the fore and demand attention. It would be interesting to see how MC's love interests deal with that. And I can tell you from personal experience that dealing with that is not easy. Not many people out there have the patience for it, even if they do know what is actually wrong with you. Because the anxiety these sorts of issues comes bundled with... It doesn't matter how much love you receive, you're always one step away from the cliff that hangs over the ravenous maw of your insecurities. And the people closest to you need to be always ready to throw you a life line and help you back up.

while i try to process my above question i do agree with you about the rest, Its a very odd moment when someone is trying to frame someone and absolutely HATES doing it, if it wasn't for his people he would never offer up his beloved daughter to keep Mc there.....This is the oddest version of this I've ever read and I'm not sure how to feel about it.

side note i appreciate that the daughter legitly likes Mc.

nah he did the whole pouring hot water on them so they pee in their sleep thing to the princess.

I think it was done to start rumors about her, and make people think she was just a little girl unfit to lead? idk I'm pretty sure it worked
