Unfortunately, society. She's still repairing her reputation. To reject the (crown?) prince, regardless of their broken engagement would easily be a problem for her. She's the 'bad guy' who hurt an innocent girl to the public. So if the prince is being so kind as to offer his hand, her rejecting it would have been so terrible

Welp, My only hope now is that Yuri clears this up in a page or two. I'm simply not interested in seeing  this of all things drive a wedge between them.

Spoiler: Prince the Third

Well to put it lightly joseph is a Sociopath who has a inferiority complex and this all started back when he was a kid as he was constantly compared to his older brothers who both had high class spirits while he contacted mid level spirits and thus was the least talented and he hated it so he heard Bridget was more untalented than he was and got interested. Now to put it simply Joseph didn't love Bridget at all the only reason why he decided to get engaged to her was to help his rep since he would be seen as a prince helping out a counts daughter and he enjoyed the praise he got because it made him look superior and made him feel better about himself.
Then he realized Bridget was actually smarter than he was and not wanting the illusion to be broken told a lie about how he thinks dumb girls are cute so she stopped studying and began doing everything he requested which was also to act like a villianess. Why he broke the engagement was that he bribed a priest to give him a magic crystal only to find out her spirit wasn't weak at all and a very powerful one so feeling betrayed he went and look for another idiot girl to make him feel good about himself which the girl was Lisa, however Lisa was not only dumber than prince expected and her behavior was not noble so the prince quickly grew tired of her but then saw Bridget improving herself and so told Lisa and his accomplices to sabotage Bridgets efforts with all of them failing and know Bridget wasn't trying for him now due to Yuri and Joseph now feels inferior to Yuri and trys to propose to Bridget again in the current arc only to be rejected. Now feeling beaten by Yuri Joseph goes crazy and witnessing the pillar of light from pi chan try to in his words turn Bridget back into the dumbest doll of all and so bribes the same priest to get a hold of a devil branch which if hit by severed the relationship or contract of the human and their spirit intending to use it on Bridget thinking once she is spiritless everyone will abandon her and she will have no choice but to come back to him.
