Huh i went back to chapter 21, and i realized that ayami refers to mmc as her former boyfriend. That means they did offically date for some time period. She never told FMC did she? thats what makes her a shitty friend. Yea I can understand those two being teenagers with baggage (really her baggage and the mmc is just honry), but to not tell fmc about your former relationship is fucked up. ISTG if FMC and MMC end up a couple, if FMC doesn't find out that those two have slept with eachother before they do anything, Imma be super pissed.

Those things are not mutually exclusive. The guy was not saying this is a bad plot twist, he was saying it isn't a plot twist at all when that is exactly what a plot twist is.

Plot twists also works in hindsight not just foresight, and there actually were hints that Hikari doesn't know everything about Yuu.

They are not but you see how one is way past what considered a twist. It's not a twist it's pulling the rug out from under. You can call anything a plot twist but he is saying it goes past that.

If you look through the comments of the chapters nobody was expecting it on foresight it's literally on hindsight. Once we had hindsight you could sort of reach and say some things but if you can't catch it till you reread or rewatch something it's not a well set up twist it's a sucker punch. And in this case it's done by prime Mike Tyson.

There is blame to go all around here.

1. Yu is an idiot (in every sense of the word) and easily manipulated. Seems like a genuinely good guy

2. Yami is manipulative and preyed on someone just as fragile as they were with sinister intentions (initially), I think the route they're going is that takun saved her from her misery but there is still more story to be told there (sorry for those that want the current arc to end).

3. Hikari's doesn't really have much blame here, she fell in love after the fact and is caught in the middle of an old romance(seemingly).

The main issue I'm having and why I've rated it low, is that.

1. The story release schedule and exposition was detrimental to the flow. Dramas don't work great in small chunks and they especially don't work if it's not really implied until later. Subverting expectations takes a lot of skill to work. I think he's a skilled writer but this didn't hit right.

2. Yami is currently very unlikable, they didn't give her enough development in the first 20 chapters to care about her. And her introduction in the current arc garnered her no sympathy and in fact had the opposite effect. If you like her, cool, but there is not much sympathy from her since her original intention was to try and break someone.

The chapters needed to be longer to get more exposition to make a drama work better.

I'll keep harping on it a bi-weekly releases with so little exposition took it to long to develop.

As I've said before this will read better once it's finished and all volumes are out. Even then currently it will just feel like a run of the mill drama. It saving grace is the artwork.

This is the main plot but we just restarted from earlier timeline. Just look at it like Abby's campaign on TLOU2.

Haven't played it yet, but I assume the genre of the story doesn't change. This one feels like an entirely new manga; from cute, awkward teen rom-com to...this. I honestly wouldn't complain had they gave us hint that there is a second FMC, at least.

I just want to make it clear I'm not bothered by the contents of the story, there are others stories that deal with similar themes but did it better in my opinion, but by how it was presented and the reason is a mix of: The release schedule. Short chapters. Suddenly jumping between scenes. A 180° tonal shift without proper build-up (it only works in hindsight.) An untimely flashback. And I still stand by shamelessly attempting to shift the audience in her favor, to the point he made her a virgin and put out a comment about this on twitter. The first three also apply to the Hikari part of the manga which I was just reading because Yom was drawing them.

Maybe this was the real scam, because without Yom I would've never even bothered checking this.
