I'm not their QC. They're supposed to have one, but they let slip a lot of typos. How is it my job now to point them? I see this morning that they've been fixed but I think they rushed their release.
Also, I find the translation kind of stilted, using overly complicated words and turn of sentences. I have a hunch the translator isn't a native English speaker and made a heavy use of a thesaurus.
In this chapter only, "She's really experienced with her hands", "Foul attitude that most celebrities have" (besides the weird thought, "celeb" in JP doesn't have the same meaning than in English. It means someone rich and powerful, not necessarily a celebrity), "a lot of life experiences", "Crossing a boundary", "I utterly adore", "Stormy answer", "sugary development"... etc.
While it's correct English, I think it's unnatural in a day-to-day conversation. People don't really talk, or think, like that.
And I'm not defending GDS. I'm a scanlator myself and the idea of charging for a scanlation is repulsive to me. I translated hundred of chapters for free, I'm buying the raws on my own money, I spend hours doing it, and I never made a cent of profit out of it. So I can say that I put my money where my mouth is. Charging for what is basically something we steal is a total rip-off and I hope GDS get DMCA'd or something.
But here, while it's free, the quality isn't as good as they say it is. They have much room to improve and instead of doing two pages to diss GDS, they should hire a native proofreader who will tell them what is natural and what is not. And someone who fix the typos before release.
