remember gentlemen, "it is always ethical to snipe GDS"
Honestly, while I can understand that "wait 3 months" rule in most cases, as quality scanlations can take time and other things may come up, however in cases like this, where there's absolutely a precedent of chapters being intentionally withheld, a "sniper" is simply providing the same product in a more timely manner. Which is good for a healthy competition. Readers will decide which group they want to support based on the quality and speed of scans.

There's a few scans groups that pump out chapters at a rapid pace, but their quality sucks, so I'd much rather read 1 chapter a month that's well translated and typeset than 5-8 chapters a month of MTL garbage. But the "no sniping" rule decentivizes other groups from coming in and providing better quality works.

Yeah, I guess most consumers don't care either. I think it's the healthy thing to have. Rules give it a feel of community, not purely a transactional exchange. It's a shame that some people take advantage of these, but I think they're better still for the overall translating scene.

The basic ideas of not sniping and respecting other groups is also designed to help spread groups across as many different series as possible because it encourages groups to find something not being worked on. If there was no sense of consideration between groups you'd probably end up with a lot of the most popular series being done by multiple groups in an effort to become the most prominent one so they can reap the money and clicks from it.

The rules and code of conduct only suck when groups like GDS take advantage of them. If every group was honest about their ability and time commitments and would willingly drop series when they were struggling to keep up things would be a lot better.

I feel like most decent quality groups don't count lazy MTL trash as being worth the consideration for the 'no sniping' rule. Unless the translator talks about being a beginner and trying to learn, almost nobody has respect enough for garbage tier MTL to worry about the ethics of sniping them.

I still remember the old days, when scans did this for love and not for patreon money or donations and did not rely on dirty tactics to get some cash like GDS and others.
I'm pretty sure paywalling this is just straight up illegal in the first place, but we can't report them for it cause it'd probably just get mangadex shutdown overall.

as mainly Novel reader and most likely zero artistic ability, I have no clue on what considered as "quality" between these two clip.
