I feel bad for the site shutting down, the anime collection on that site was unrivalled; but, as so many have said before, good riddance.

power-tripping mods, and ads ads ads.

it was thanks to that site I discovered that there are specialist Pop-up blockers. I didn't mind disabling my Adblocker, but, fucking Hell, those pop-ups.

Too bad for you, "Don't mind me" is the number one phrase* that will draw attention to yourself.

I wonder what we weebs will have to do once the last manga reader site finally goes. Will I have to patch up my boat, stock up on rum, gather a motley crew of the vilest, most desperate of weebs, fly the flag of the Jolly Waifu, and sail the seven seas to raid cargo ships for copies of manga?

pfff hahahaha best comment of the day XD

CNN: breaking news a cargo ship has been hijacked by pirates but ahhh they wear an anime clothing and they stole a lot of books??

someone should post what happened to MD a few months ago right before they did a servers move/update/whatever, which also explain some of the extra rules, and kinda answer "what if MangaDex is next?"

Hey guys, refugee here.

As much as we all know KM was a shitty site, after reading on here for a bit, I have to say though that I miss their comment system. Reading the comments after a chapter became part of the experience and it made me feel warm inside to know that I wasn't alone in reading.

Not discrediting MD here. I'm finally free from the porn ads, popups and captchas. But just want to ask if any others here thought the same, and can give advice about moving on.

I am a Kissmanga veteran myself, good thing I copied my bookmarks as word file regulary( one of the rare times my paronia payed off). That being said I got 500 or so bookmarked mangas there so transfering them here would be quite a hassle...

So far I really liked mangadex, it has a great interface, exclude tags option, different languages and scans options. Only glaring problem I found is some of the mangas I read are missing alot of chapters so I might need another manga site to fill the void as well. Anyone got recomandations for a second site?

Can’t say I have any sympathy to kissmanga. They were an aggregator site littered with ads and captchas and popus, made the whole reading experience a hassle. I did use kissanime a lot to watch anime (the less mainstream seasonal anime), so I have to admit I’m kinda sad to see that go too, but honestly I just don’t watch anime that much anymore (like at all), so I’ll deal. That said, I expect something to take it’s place shortly. It’s kinda sad, but I hope policy makers realize they can NEVER defeat piracy on the internet (and I’m not necessarily advocating it; its just a fact). They might as well better spend their time on issues that are feasible

Thanks for the welcome. After mangarock shut down, it was expected the same would hapen to kissmanga, but after using it all this time out of habit still shocked me at that moment.

Honestly, the only thing I will miss from KM/KA is the comments and conversations, sharing opinions and recomendations, sometimes finding rare insight or thought provoking questions masked in frivolity, like the banana thing just now, and ofcourse trolls and shit post, but those are charming in their own way, like a dumpter on fire in an alley perhaps. And I will definitely not miss being questioned about my humanity every single time, its confusing after a while.

@bigtiddyoneesan you seem savy about this site, any specific warnings or guidelines you could send my way? after reading "Bochi Teach Me Mangadex" I feel there are things I ignore but should know.

@herooftheplebs Im on the same boat, a seemingly sinking one, pretty sure others are to, after doing something you like for some time eventually we (speaking for my self) seek a sense of comunity with others that share the same interest. In the comments I found that others relate in some way or another to what I just read, even sharing part of their life experiences, that is precious I think. To move on is to regain the sense of wonder to rediscover, its diferent from distachment, since its not the manga but the platform that allowed those connections.

It reminds me of this “Look at light and admire its beauty. Close your eyes, and then look again: what you saw is no longer there; and what you will see later is not yet”, things are bound to change, most times is out of our hands, but we can choose to percieve it as an oportunity.

That's so true - but yet, they don't realize it, simply because they've never seen it from outside of their tiny little bubble of life experience.
