When you think about it, your average romcom MC just doesn't seem suitable for any sort of disabled girl care. He'd either be too shy to be of any help, or too pervy/weak-willed to not take advantage of a defenseless body.
The bathroom scene was awkward and tone-deaf. Set up in a cliffhanger like a classic fanservice moment, only to play it seriously without a punchline, like the old blindfold routine for instance. And the brief montage makes it look like he barely rinsed her.
Childhood friend and the gal having 'a thing' all the sudden is a weird development with weird timing.
