What a cute ending 😍

When I saw Truck-kun, for a moment I was afraid Chihiro would end up as an Isekai protagonist 😂

For everyone wondering yes this was axed, it did not sell very well from what I read. All things considered the author ended it pretty well. It’s too bad though because it was a good manga, it just didn’t include enough popular tropes to make money I guess.

It's a good ending for an axed series.
I'm sorry for the author, he probably had imagined the manga going way further than this but got shot down by not selling enough.

Kinda sad how this great series only got 6 volumes compared to some shittier ones that go for way longer. Alas, we got a good story to remember and imagine the rest of their relationship.
It's unfortunate we didn't get to see Epi-chan's boyfriend or get more jokes with Merou-chan (best girl btw!). I'd love to see Eiria-chan's twitter more too, she's an otaku like us.

Looking back it I have to say I'm not too surprised this got axed - especially if I look at chapters about Kumikas and Chihiros "romance". They're just not that well executed; for some reason although Chihiro has decent reason, motivation and backstory to try to ask Kumika out, it never goes anywhere (well, until the series got the axe and even then it's not that great). I don't understand why it had to be drawn out like this, it's in a Seinen magazine, so the readers maybe even expect them to get together a bit earlier and not fumble around like middleschool kids. The idea behind this manga, as well as it's structure would work just as well if they were dating: Kumika eats something for the first and it's cute - you can do that even without japanese cuisine. I mean, I don't remember different cooking styles coming up, so that had a vast amount of untapped potential - and it could've been something Chihiro is unfamiliar with, too. There's also "alien food" from Chihiros backstory.

Why it never went there, I can only guess and this isn't meant to be rude but: I don't think the mangaka is good at writing adult romance. The whole manga is fluffy and cute, up to the point when the relationship between the two main characters comes up and then the issue is either dodged or it gets awkward. Overall it's very good, but if the author would've executed it better, it could have stuck around, at least in my opinion - and that's why I will say it's a good series, but just not a great one.

I'm good with this

I think some of you have standards a little too high for manga.

I'm annoyed about ending the story right when we're finally done with what I consider the exposition stage (everything before the couple actually becomes a couple.) You see this often. The story ends at first kiss or the confession. To me, that's when the story finally really begins but sadly it's often the last chapter.

As for the common misbelief that there's nothing to write about after you break that romantic tension of "will they?" There are tons of things to write about. You just add external sources of dramatic tension. A couple takes on the world. Eg. meet the parents. There've been a pile of movies just off that event alone.

On the plus side, I appreciate the author making an attempt to wrap up an axed series instead of just leaving it hanging. :)

@Kwijo While I agree with you, this is such a common practice in romance manga I pretty much just expect it at this point. The worst part of the "confession = The End" type of series is those goddamn moments where someone is about to do it, and then the universe slaps their shit with some stupid coincidental poor timing thing, and they revert back to "I can't confess, I don't have the courage." At this point it's often become obvious to us that both the people involved are in that same position and it's infuriating. The friends have all noticed both people like each other and just let them fester in their own insecurities. Take them out back and put them out of their misery, your country's declining birth rates can't handle these indecisive genes being passed down any further haha.

One of those things that had to end but it really could have continued forever, for me
Thank you!

Ahhhh there were a lot more things i would have liked to see but still a pretty satisfying ending to a very good manga.

Well idk what to feel about the romance maybe if the ML wasnt a wet noodle itd had been better but thats like 90% of romance ML anyway, bald guy was funner.

Maybe if there had been more focus on other aliens and their cultures meals ?

Wife Kumika at the end was precious.

Welp unto this authors next work which seems pretty fun in a different way lol

Somehow I feel like the author doesn't want to end it just yet, and I would agree. There's still more to be done with this story: it's a shame to end it on this note. Oh well. I'll be looking forward to their next work. Hopefully it will be printed in my country.
