let's just hope that viz doesn't want pokémon to be removed. sure, their version is readily available, from start to "current". but small problem: they publish the watered down censored version.

Thank you, everyone, for creating a reliable site to host manga and webcomics! A shoutout especially to you HOLO!!!!!! For making this wonderful site possible in the first place. I have nothing to complain about the wonderful workings on this site, and I hope some other devs can help me say to Holo, “ Congratulations on taking some well-deserved rest!!! Thank you for all of your work!” And thank you, to the readers, who make translations and support for this site easier by the day.

Noticing people already forgot about OneManga, MangaFox, Batoto, MangaStream, KissManga, etc.

Would it be possible to send a notification to users when those manga have their restrictions lifted?

Is this the beginning of the end of Mangadex?

I hope Japanese manga industry can be more organized and easy to acces for english reader like in Korea's Webtoon.

First, thanks for your hardwork Holo. I'm glad it won't end easily like Grumpy did. Best wishes for your IRL life.

DMCA'd. Welp, it's their right after all.
If MD have plan to run imouto site in the dark web with TOR or such to provide DMCA'd title. That would be a giant leap of internet.
I might not be surprised if certain hentai lord or oil sultan donates 1M or more when one day MD is dying.

@Yari-Kachi Not in the foreseeable future. Japanese manga companies only see their home market as important. It was the same (and to some extend still is) with anime until Crunchyroll (which btw: was the result of many fansub groups merging) came into being.
Currently the worst are LNs, although, given the output of LNs and how simple (read: cheap) it is to churn out series, most won't get axed and are thus very easily continuable unless they are making losses on that particular series. Not to mention that copy protecting a bunch of UTF-8 bytes is a good bit harder than images or video.

What do you mean by that? Since when Korean webtoons were easy to access?

Just a curious question, is fan colored translations still on the Table.

I saw the one punch man ones still up, so just wondering, that if colored version of the other manga can be posted ( provided its fan translated)

I would suggest complying with the exact letter of the takedown notices. If they only cover the English translations, then only take down the English translations. If they cover all derived works then take down all translations and disable upload for those series.

When a takedown notice is genuine and not just created by a webcrawling bot, that 90% of the time misidentifies things, legal action will likely follow swiftly if you do not comply.

I would also suggest for security of the database servers setting up reverse proxies that are directly web accessible, encrypted (need a password/key file on boot) and contain no user or confidential data. All these reverse proxies will do is allow access to the real servers. This is what has saved private torrent sites from legal action against users and admins in the past. The real servers will also be encrypted requiring ssh provision of a key file or password to boot up, and will only be accessible from the IPs of the reverse proxy servers. Staff can talk to me on discord if you want more information.

At least Holo didn't do a Grumpy.
Best of luck to him in his life.

@ErikTheRed no one should be in a position where they can get Grumpy'd. that is quite an exceedingly cruel fate for current standards. after all, not many people are THAT superhuman.

speaking of which i wonder what Grumpy's doing nowadays...

btw is Holo still going to be around to meme with us?

Grumpy was the admin of Batoto. He didn't have a mid-size company team like Holo did, so when he got burned out, Batoto burned with him.
But to his credit, he gave heads up and passed on the catalog (or his mods did, I don't remember), on which MangaDex was built upon.
