Horny comment section today again eh?

This felt a bit different from the norm - normally a confession like 'I want you to stay human' would be taken quite literally as a love confession and so come at the climax of the story. But here it's sort of played low with her tossing the ball immediately back in his court by essentially saying "well show you mean it". I think at this point, from her perspective, she is looking at MC as a potential mate and just wants to see him "walk the walk" and then she'll stay with him. It's a little bit like Spice & Wolf.

Of course the dumb part here is that at this point, there should be mutual understanding that they're both pretty much into each other, but the mangaka will of course play the MC off as dense and not 'catching the hint'.

Age gap is, of course, quite iffy too, but it Japan - authors can publish works with very questionable messages all the time in there. At this point we just roll with it.

I'd never pet a parrot, those beaks are capable of breaking walnuts. I'd be terrified of the bird getting annoyed at the complete stranger trying to pet it and biting me. Even if it was just a warning nibble, I'm sure even those can slice down to the bone.

My duuude... he talks about how if Mi-chan were a cat, he wouldn't know what she was thinking.
And in the meantime, he is sitting in a mental cage and stifling bad emotions, guilt and low self-esteem... projecting hard.
I wonder if this depresso will be the main theme or maybe we will get some character development.

Stupid unnecessary age gap aside-
I dont recall it was expressed to him that they'd have to have sex for her to be human? Because all this "you have to make an effort" is unfair to the guy without explaining that part. What if he gasps has a sense of morale and doesn't want to bone a teenager?!
This whole manga is so fetishy though it's probably not gonna be a point of contention.

I tend to get the feeling that most people on here don't care about the moral quandaries surrounding two people who SHOULDN'T have sex given the nature of who they are actually doing so. "Who cares if there's an age gap and one of 'em is a minor? Seggs!"

She really didn't want to repeat what that tiger had to say. I think that tiger was saying slurs. What a hateful tiger.

See, if I had paid attention the first time I read this a couple months ago I probably would've dropped it. But I was too far in when I finally re read the beginning, realized he's damn near older than her by ten years and now I wanna see how the mangaka will play it out.
I'm one of those people that finished Usagi Drop back in the day and in terms of age gap, few things will ever be more demoralizing than that one...which doesnt make the age gap in this one right...but at least I'm not invested at all in Mi chan and her sugar daddy lmao

I think one of the undertones and message here is also the concept of having to deal with other people as opposed to the escapism of keeping pets. Both the MC and Mi-chan find humans tiresome and frustrating to deal with, since they are needy, complainy, complex and difficult, and MC escapes from that by being a cat lover, saying things like he wishes he could just be around cats only and not have to talk to people. Mi-chan also seriously considers a life as a cat because that would mean she could escape from the complexities of human life and human relationships. And the key decision they have to make is whether they want to choose a complex, messy but potentially rewarding human life with each other, or go for the easy solution of just having her stay as a cat and having a simplistic pet-owner relationship instead. And I think it's pretty obvious that the author's take is that while pets are nice and comfy, using them as a complete replacement for human relationships will result in a somewhat hollow lifestyle.

I mean, there are other manga that actually make this issue their central focus (like https://mangadex.org/title/661eaad1-3de3-4685-ae43-f534294b6d8d/koi-wa-ameagari-no-you-ni), and if you want a deep complex take on that I highly recommend reading that one instead. But that's not what I came to this one for, so if the author doesn't want to make a big deal about it, I won't either.

I think she just wants him to stop being flaky and indecisive and to take direct action towards it. Iori took a step in the right direction by finally choosing something but now he has to follow through and take action.

Im not good at explaining this stuff... its like she's saying "make a choice and mean it. Make sure you arent going to regret it and be so confident in your choice you make me think thats the only correct option".
She isnt exactly wrong in that either. Its a massive permanent desicion so she has to make sure the man she picked made the correct one. Though she could be better at communicating it I suppose.

Its like she thinks "if he doesnt get it by the time limit im better off as a cat and not having to worry about anything anyways"
Too bad she's dealing with a Japanese introvert.

It's hard to tell what type of parrot those are, but if they're lorikeets then they're friendly fruit juice/nectar eaters. A lot of zoos have feeding exhibitions where you go into the cage with apple slices. Often they will flock to you just like that.

That said, the parrots in the manga seem to have more distinct circles around the eye.
