I just want to grab the kid by the shoulders, shake him violently, and yell in his face: "YOU STUPID BRAT. DO YOU REALLY THINK YOUR MOM WILL FEEL ANY BETTER BY LOSING HER ONLY REMAINING CHILD. STOP BEING SO FUCKING SELFISH AND ATONE BY LIVING A GOOD LIFE FROM NOW ON."

Nothing good will come with the daughter of the rapist and the brother who killed her sister's rapist living together. Even with forgiveness and reconciliation, the dude is suicidal and we don't know if the daughter is looking for revenge.

The dude can make a recovery to integrate back into society but if the daughter is there he can get triggered like he did in this chapter and spiral into suicidal thoughts. The mere presence of that girl would surely cause a backslide.

As for the girl, while she's an orphan and I don't think she had a choice, she could have said something if the woman who was taking care of her is going to have her son, her father's killer, out of jail and into the home she was gonna stay at.

Again, nothing good for both sides. Idk if this story is gonna go with the forgiveness and reconciliation route or the revenge and torment route. I hope the former.

Bro killed the rapist that attacked his own sister who then killed herself as a result. None of it was his fault. Why in the FUCK am I supposed to empathize with the idea that he's this guilty dude trying to "atone" and that I'm supposed to care if the guys daughter wants "revenge"? Why would she want revenge? On what grounds? Like, dude, her dad was the lowest of scum and deserved what he got. She should be thanking the MC since she probably would have been next. It'd be more believable if she was the one that felt guilty because of her fathers actions that destroyed the family she currently lives with. None of this makes sense. The drama here feels incredibly forced and exaggerated, lol.

Exactly. I'd be more happy if they made the MC be basically like PTSD veteran who would never be able to trust that girl because he thought the girl would try to do revenge. That would be a more realistic behavior where the brother would always make sure the girl is under surveillance, and that his mother would never be alone with the little girl (or he himself for all that matters). This would make a more realistic approach while maybe if they want to make character development, they'd make the MC slowly more trusting toward the girl? I don't know, but definitely looking like another wimpy MC.

If the end of Oyasumi Punpun is to be believed, then forcing someone to live IS the ultimate form of punishment. I'm interested to see how this unfolds

Depending on how this is handled, it has a lot of potential for handling themes of forgiveness, suicide, and family. I hope this doesn't just nose dive into "fucked up" territory, and tries to handle it directly and wholesomely.

This manga is built on really good premise, the artstyle is particularly fitting but i kinda worry that it's unsustainable for this manga's run. Big "Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu" vibes.

A life for a life huh. Considering he was nice enough to let her live when more sadistic people would torture her in front of her father and then kill both of them, hope she doesn't hold too much of a grudge. Wonder if there's sth wrong with me because I could imagine that so easily...

bro didn't even do anything wrong
killing a pedo rapist is morally correct
Morally correct. However, in society, you are not allowed to do yourself justice unless it is in the name of self-defence. And the lines get blurrier depending on where you live about what that even means. =/

The mother doesn't deserve all that shit.
Daughter killed herself for trauma.
Son is suffering massive PTSD for feeling guilty of not escorting her at home ONCE and then killing the rapist on a hurry, before its child.
Japan always have that if someone kills someone else no matter for what reason they are stigmatized, same for their close family.
Add to that that the MC like his sister is very weak mentally, and possibly didn't kill himself in prison because he thought he had to at least get his punishment by laws, that I'm surprised he even got, a minor in Japan killing a piece of shit on the spur of the moment in a clear moment of insanity, he got a shitty lawyer.

not really, he hurryed to take revenge, it seems like that after reading the note he run to the bastard house, maybe found it out at the sister school, and very likely had no idea he had a adaughter, anyway we know the MC is not a pyscho or a evil person in any way and the guilt is killing him, is more likely he would have stopped had he seen the little child or even heard the voice when the bastard returned home.
MC doesn't think of the fact he probably saved other girls froma similar fate, and the daughter too, nothing says the rapist wouldn't have gone for her when she grew up more.

The one that you should pity is the mother. You need to know that has a murderer relative isn't going to get well reception. Not to mention, guilt is complex feeling.
You obviously never heard about people who accidentally kill others and punish themselves with the guilt for the rest of their life. Even simpler example is a bully who regret their actions but do not apologize toward the victim because they feel like they deserve the guilt. I think in this case the guilt swallows MC so much that he hallucinates his sister calls him to join her.

Does this have name in psychology tho? I swear people should have specific term for this guilt syndrome.
