Yes and no? Your Starting Stats, depend on your state when you start at level 1 (Ch36 page 5/Ch11 Page 3) . There could be a limit to what a regular human would be at, even on their best day.

Well, they won't be top if they have a stats of a shuckle or a kingler. They prolly possess some unique skills like "I absorb your sh!+" (anti-magic aura) or "pain split at HP 20%" (a.k.a. UNKILLABLE) or "Auto Reflect" (which is op) or "beast mode" or "vehicle mode" or "MissingNo.".

Plus they are Lv.99 expert adventurers meaning they have STRONG LEGENDS like Mjolnir, Aeternus, The Harvester, Meteor, Ultima, Odin, Zeus, Hand of Nod.

This is why a good execution of a Tournament Arc rakes in money for the author and the publisher.

Hey, I’d be mad if he didn’t game the system a little. Fair and square is alright for a game, but there’s no such thing with your life on the line.

Also reminds me of Idle Slayer where you can “ascend” back to starting level, with an increased ability to level up stats to help unlock the skill tree options faster.

I'd like to think this Level Consumption thing was put there because the Author (or the Editor) wanted a tournament arc, but thought that a 5-digit level MC against 99LVL participants was maybe too overkill.
