She may not have gotten like... called out in a huge shouting blowup or whatever, but in regards to Yasaka getting consequences for her behaviour... She already kinda has?
The way she acts and the ensuing fall out basically cuts off guys like that from wanting to interact with her ever again and she doesn't have close relationships with girls the way Mitsumi and co. do, probably because of similar situations like this chapter.
It's the irony of her manipulating people to get the 'love' she wants making her more isolated in the end.

People are seeing the person Yasaka pretends to be.
I hope she gets stabbed, throw out of a windows and squished by a car passing by.
i truly admire your ability to read almost 11 volumes of a manga and learn nothing from it. separating people into rigid categories where they're either good or evil incarnate (especially a teenager, a hurt and confused one that's learning how to navigate life and relationships, even though she's obviously not doing it right) is literally one of the things this story tries to fight against the most. "People value different things and to each their complexes. School is a space where people from the same generation closely go about their daily lives and I wanted to write about how they influence each other. The people you get along with do not necessarily have spotless integrity but could also have something of a bad personality. I would like to carefully depict a school life where you can't tell who will save whom, who will get noticed and who will be moved into growing." quote by the author. i recommend you reread the manga from the beginning again and maybe this time you'll get it

I know its her defense mechanism etc etc, but that doesnt condone her manipulative actions
The fact that she hasn't had any actual repercussions from her manipulative behaviour.
does she need to be punished? why do you feel like she needs to have any tangible repercussions to understand that what she did is wrong? isn't the acceptance mitsumi has shown her the first step to learn? the repercussions are obvious, she's hurting herself and distancing herself from people by acting this way. the manga doesn't need to outright say something is "not good" for the reader to get it

That chapter ending, Mitsumi was damn skilful!

I think Yasaka is deeply broken. It's not about what others think of or imagine her to be, but also the way she leads them on to believe in certain things that are not there. Mitsumi's perception is right: Yasaka has her own way of thinking, her own world, that can't be interfere with or intervene. If it were me, I wouldn't establish or have a connection with Yasaka because we are too different and I don't have the energy or capacity to be with her. So, I got to give it to our girl, Mitsumi!

And for me, Shima deserves every bit that came after his ignorance to his own feelings and Mitsumi's ordeal; even if they're very small details that upset him 🤷‍♂️

I think a lot more of you are giving Yasaka too much benefit of the doubt just because she's a teenager. It'd be one thing if she was just super friendly and that was being taken the wrong way but she is actively hurting other people. That's not just a "teenage mistake". But that's what makes her intersting. Her and Shima have deeply rooted character flaws that go beyond normal teenage school drama. One is active while the other is reactive and gives a new perspective on how things stick with you.

Even though the readers acknowledged Yasaka as a bad person here, her case is not that far different from Yuzuki where pretty girls got unwanted people wavering around them, just that the two girls have different coping mechanisms regards the situation. I think the fact the surrounding environment of a person also get them to act certain ways is more to learn than to judge.

Guys, please remind me what made Mitsumi and Shima awkward. It's because they broke up, right?

Anyway, thanks a lot for the update!

I don't think she's evil and does it just for pleasure, she also has a distorted view that other people need attention just like her, so they should be grateful for that. But she kind of plays with other people's feelings, that's why she says she wins or loses. I understand her feelings, but I understand other people's feelings too. You being hurt doesn't make the hurt you caused other people any less painful. In the end, everything is a choice, she is also aware that people hate what she does and she doesn't try to understand, instead she accuses people of not understanding her. And that's funny, a character without parental love acting like a spoiled child. So I feel sad for her, but I hate her too

Thanks for the update!

I believe the phrase "you are the 5 people you surround yourself with" comes to mind often for me reading this.
Mitsumi is slowly changing everyone around her by being someone true to herself (and a powerful force of kind nature).

Everyone lived with their own perspectives until they met her.
Shima's wall was 3ft thick. Mika's self-deprecation led her to have a poor underlying personality. Yuzuki's similar but different issues with her beauty than Yasaka.

These kids never had anyone close to them that could show them that there was another way. It's hard seeing people treat Yasaka's issues to many degrees above the rest of the group of friends that you all now like. Until something can show them a different perspective, a different approach to the issues they are having, why is it unbelievable for them to continue in their old ways that they are using to get by?

Yasaka's comment about Mitsumi about saying she must have received so much love, was absolutely correct. Clearly Yasaka was starved of actual love, and only received it superficially. She's the most afraid of everyone leaving, just like in the last panel when she is bewildered by the fact that Mitsumi wants her to join even tho in Yasaka's eyes, she has nothing to give other than her looks.

I also believe people using the term narcissist here are using it incorrectly.
Narcissism isn't really a personality disorder of deep love for one's self, but a disorder of deep shame. The driving force is the fear that no one will love them, they feel the need to use their looks or personality as a shield. On the outside, they look pretentious, on the inside it's only struggle.

Looking forward to more of Mitsumi, the sun, and how she makes those around her want to be in her orbit!
