Someone mentioned in another manga I am reading about how that sword the MC is using is supposed to be used in real combat. A double grip below the cross guard (the grip he is using this entire fight) is for long range combat. If you move one had to the spot just above the cross guard , it is for close combat. So the MC didn't change grips despite the range. So maybe this is why he landed the finishing blow in that trade and only received a scratch. :thonk:
Either that or the author doesn't know anything about this sword other than it being big.
Author seems to know some degree of swordmanship, the artist knows how the grip and stance would've looked but can't visualize how the movement goes.

Legit, in one page they just instantly swapped his grip without any clear look at what he's about to do.

Of the many things he does "Fucking around" ain't one of them. However he DOES help people solve that equation by letting them "Find out".
He realized his value as an asset and marrying one princess or queen would be the defeat of entire towns, including his own hometown. As he mentioned, his town will be forgotten if he married off. He wanted to make the town of his mother known or something, as a tribute or honor or thanksgiving.

Yep, for a person who is always "my dick hurts" thinking in the first chapter, his thinking about the future is WAY TOOOO RESPONSIBLE.

What's Caloline motive to escape again? I dont remember.

Also rip
Was basically losing a succession family war and trying to escape from her and her loyalist being totally purged, but is a situation far more complex than that and her story is quite tragic even if she did bad shit like pillaging and killing to try to keep herself and her soldiers going

Pretty sure that one of the main plot lines is that he can't fuck anyone
He has to be careful who he has a kid with. If there's no worries about the kid, he can have sex. The issue is he's too serious and too stupid to pick up on social cues from women that like him. And the cues he does pick up on are from women he deems detrimental to his domain. Sabine and Astarte, for example. Sabine because she'd bring shame to his domain and Astarte because she'd absorb his domain into hers (since she's of higher standing).
He wanted to make the town of his mother known or something, as a tribute or honor or thanksgiving.
Ya, basically. He wants to do right by his mother's memory and the people of his town. He doesn't necessarily want to make the town huge or flourish, so much so as make the lives of his citizens easier. Passes on gifts to them (jewelry and the like), cuts their taxes using monetary rewards from his military service, makes sure they all have soap, etc.

Also, hes considered in his country ugly and not atractive so he only has his virginal status to appease suitors. He might be a respected hero, but doesnt make him more popular with the females.

To that you gotta add that Astarte and Anastasia are also disuading any suitors to get close to Faust and is kind of an open secret that they both are atracted to Faust so no noble want to step into that dual landmine willingly and risk angering 2 of the most powerful women in the country

Faust made sure her daughter is alive, which Caroline assumed dead.

This is a gender bent world with the same biological realities as our world. The black smiths are women designing equipment for women. A 7 foot Polidoro who maintained the gender standards of our world and actually trained his male body can easily handle this type of Zweihander built for women a quarter of his strength.
