Aww is the poor little baby lurker upset that I pointed out that the community doesn’t like snipers. The fact is that many groups have just completely stopped translating a series because a sniper tried to capitalize on the popularity of a series to get money from it.
So far what you have pointed out is YOU don't like "snipers". The average reader, however, could care less who is making releases, they just care that releases are being made. I can count on practically 1 hand (ok, maybe 2 hands) the number of posters who continually whine about other groups posting their releases on already being worked on series. And by already being worked on, I mean practically forgotten because of how far behind the raws the releases are, which is usually the case when another entity starts making releases. Rare is the case that multiple releases occur on actively posted series, not the norm.
"The fact is that many groups have just completely stopped translating", when another group comes along and makes some releases on what most would consider an abandoned series. You gonna start complaining on behalf of the missing entity in those cases as well? You also gonna complain when some group starts making releases of a series here on Mangadex, when said series is already being released regularly by another group, just not on Mangadex cause the group wants readers to go to their website for financial reasons? And on that note...
The only "community" that's doesn't like "snipers", is the individuals/groups that have a financial stake in their releases; join our patreon for earlier releases!; come visit our ad-laden website for earlier releases!; support me on patreon and I'll work hard!; send me a Ko-fi!; send me some Bitcoin!; here's my PayPal!; hit up that QR code to donate!; if you don't donate we can't get raws!; give me money or my cat goes hungry!; I'm taking care of my blind, deaf, one legged dog...; etc, etc, etc...
You also have the clout chasers who want the be "the one", and "the only one" at that, who just want to be "first", and can't stand to "lose" to someone else, even if they already "lost" cause they're woefully behind releases. But "it's coming! I promise that the chapters are coming! Don't nobody make their own cause
I'M doing it! Nobody else now! Praise ME! Cheer ME on! Only ME!"
Imagine if the Linux and FOSS community was so self centered as you want the manga community to be.
Oh yeah, Redhat....
