Damn, they're dumb.

10/10 military strategy there.
Oh hey, its a guy who knows the underpinnings of all our military technology and helped pioneer the field. Oh shit, he's not a part of our nation....

Yes, that is actually 10/10 military strategy, they just did not expect to pick a fight with a one-man army. They might have thought him a normal elf who clearly ain't much more powerful than humans. Just too bad he's a high elf and can convince the ground under the country's feets to go somewhere else if he was so inclined.

Doesn't even need to convince. He just needs to ask. Oh and the rivers can please go somewhere else which would not only cause absolute chaos to any farming efforts, but destroy the main transportation network for bulk goods for any pre-industrialisation culture.

Time moves on, and people don't have infinite lives. I figured he'd gotten used to that by now.

That's a bit of an aggressive reaction. Kill without questions.

How nice of them to provide some equipment.

The idea of elves not growing mentally any faster than several times slower than humans is just weird. It's like they have almost no capacity for learning.

For example, they can track them magic tools and arrived at the elves village. Sparking war between the mages and elves.
And then he has a reason to fight, and they have a reason to get their asses kicked.

Unless part of the magic enchanted onto it allows for the string to stay strung and not loose its tension cutting away at any prep needed to be made ahead of time with stringing it before use.
And also have the string stretch and not the limbs of the bow bend while shooting.

I wish they would've actually gave us a lick of an idea of what happened with Kaushman. Did he die and a pupil destroyed his shop? Did the government betray him to seize control of his knowledge and inventions? Did he jsut get corrupted as he aged and destroyed the atelier himself? Bah.

I'm going with either a mix of 1 and 2, a student selling his craft to the gov't or straight up the gov't not wanting his secrets to fall into anyone else's hands

I feel like he's taking those magic tools gonna bite his own asses.

Pretty sure Aesir rekted a country for enslaving the elves before... even if that's too long ago for human, it would be stupid to disregard a disaster if they wage war with elves again.

I feel like there will come a time when Aesir is forced to really call upon the forces of nature and it will serve as a warning to all nations how much damage an enraged immortal can cause. From the adventures so far its heavily implied that Aesir can do more than causing earthquake and cleaving an island in two.

It was a wombo combo. Earthquakes to put the fear of god into the populace, followed by the elves just packing up and leaving which allows the forests to be overrun with monsters jacking up the relative danger levels of the kingdom from high-sec to null-sec. The earthquakes were also needed to ensure that the population at large were made aware that something big has happened, otherwise the latter monster rampage could be explained away by some other means and not because of the elven slave trade that's getting covered up.

And here I was expecting Kaushman had left the property in Aesir's name or something. Looks like that's a country he can't be returning to for a long while.
It sounds like even if he had the state seized it :c considering the atelier probably got wiped off the map to protect the state and their power sources...

Man ...kaushman I hope your life was at least good and fun even if your legacy got mostly wiped away.

Really dumb how they went straight to force instead of diplomacy
Why would they use diplomacy? A guy they're only fuzzily aware of just showed up and started inquiring about the country's most important strategic military secrets in the middle of a huge war, and you want them to just invite him to sit down and discuss things over tea & biscuits?

See things from their perspective, not ours.

I know it's par for the course but seeing all these characters slowly fade out of this story still hurts. Kaushman :meguuusad:

For a guy who "briefly considered" cleaving the island in two to stop a war...it's almost certain that he could have just turned the oni half into Atlantis if he felt like it.

The spirits of the land are 100% on board with anything he wants, or even think he wants, it's scary. :worry:

That's not "the mages", just the military of one nation. They don't have enough power nor personnel to keep pursuing him cross-border. And elven villages are usually protected by the barrier, people without connection to spirits can't hope to find their way in.
