I dunno if anyone's gotten why we've translated Mei saying "honored" every now and then, but it's because she keeps adding "-sama" even to things that aren't people. For comedy reasons it seems as though she's now doing the same with Eira, except using "-chan" instead, so we translated it as "adored" this time.

I honestly wish more translators would do this. It always sounded weird to me adding Japanese honorifics in an English translation.

No, it doesn't. Most of the time it's not handled well. You get people just replacing them with normal words without a second though, and it just ruins the reading of most things. Like there's that one dude who replaces every -chan with "dear" even if it really doesn't make sense and ruins the flow.
