Actually, Japan was one country where women had higher standing compared to Europe at the same period. In Japan, women could inherit holdings and had a better standing due to often being the highest ranking in the relationship (basically, men married them because the rank of someone is limited by his birth. By marrying someone of the Third Rank while they are of the Fourth for example, their child could be promoted to the Third) and providing the household income (it is as often that women were married because their father being rich as they would support their higher-ranking in-laws who, as capital-dwellers, didn't really have their own income). In fact, when a couple married, the husband was the one to first live at his in-laws.

It's not a coincidence that the first real Japanese literature works (and even what people considers the first Novel of the world) were dominated by women.

I think sleepwalking is not a disease, instead a disorder. Diseases are tangible, can be caused by a phatogen or something that physically harms the body whilst disorders are intangible meaning that there is a disruption

Loved this chaoter. Stumbled upon this jewel by accident and boy oh boy am I glad that I have!

Aside from the amazing story and the Mao x Jinshi combo being just pure gold and 100% my style of romance (and by gods is it hard to find good ones such as this!), it amazes me every time to see the casual attitude they have towards slavery, the harem women, sex and life, in general I guess. You can see it with period dramas as well (though, in there it can get romanticised due to the MC etc) and it's always just as staggering to see the cold-bloodedness (or, morbidity, even) of that world contrasted with how seemingly happy-go-lucky-ish their behaviours are. Which was because that was their everyday reality they came in contact with on daily basis. Just how much more resilient they have had to be, to simply make it in an environment like that.

Also, Jinshi you marvelous M you haha
