What IS the prince trying to do? Spineless as he is. Also, his father and Scarlet's father equally shit. I really hope the whole of Daegaz and their own families come to some extreme ruin for their crimes.

This chapter made me reflect on our first introduction to Lily. She was shady at best, and conspiratorial at worst. Turns out, she was trying to foil a conspiracy!! What!!! The author does such a great job unraveling the depths of the characters, like an onion. Even Scarlet's relationship with Lily has been revealed to be deeper than what Scarlet is willing to share with Constance (and by proxy, us the audience).

It's all the more heartbreaking that Lily has already passed away... And impressive that the author was able to loop things back around to the beginning of the story.

More and more, I feel like the greatest tragedy of this story is how much Scarlet was well and truly loved.
So true. My perception of Scarlet has drastically changed with this flashback arc. I loved her before as this fierce woman, but I love her even more now that her personality is deeper explained. I wonder what will happen once everything is resolved. What'll happen to Scarlet?

I love how Lili is basically Scarlett and Constance combined into one. She's shrewd, but she still keeps her heart.
Not really, Constance would never say shit to compel others to do harm. Something Lily did to Cecilia just because. Let's not forget that just because we are seeing her PoV Lilly wasn't as twisted as Scarlett was.

And if executing Scarlet was part of that plan, you really don't deserve that forgiveness bruh.
As we heard from the last chapter, seems like he didn't expect his dad to have been bought out by Faris/Daegaz already; he know Scarlet would be punished but he didn't know she will be straight up executed (I presume there's no precedent of such a crime sentence thus he got complacent, and he underestimated how deep Faris/Daegaz has infiltrated the kingdom).

He's dumb, very much so, but it sounds like he's not as stupid and airheaded/loveblind as most people think. Lily points out that someone that he seeked forgiveness from (Scarlet) would've easily forgiven him with a smile, presumably since Scarlet would've known that he's an idiot but also know that it's not entirely his fault.

Seeing how they said the invasion should've happened 10 years ago but the Kingdom stopped it, it would appear that the King and Duke traded Scarlet's life for a strategic advantage of some kind to foil the plan.

Cecelia also mentioned that her plans always go awry after Scarlet's death, so perhaps marrying Cecelia into the crown princess position was a way to tie her down.

Interesting theory.

So let me get this straight.

Faris agents, including Ceci, smuggled Janes into the kingdom to subjugate the masses beforehand (per opium war IRL) and also to handle key persons of the country. The grand plan is a full-blown invasion, and to smoothen this, Ceci was tasked with approaching the Crown Prince, Enrique, to make sure they have an insider that could handle any cases that go awry.

They screwed up, however, when Sharon, a mere user, gave some Janes to that Scarlet fangirl, who tried to poison Ceci. Ceci's maid, loyal to Ceci's heroine persona, snowballed it into an actual investigation, which put the Gendarmarie in high alert around the royal capital and halted invasion plans. Then somebody, for reasons unknown, planted false clues that lead to the execution of Scarlet, which was not supposed to happen.

With Scarlet executed and both Enrique and Lily sniffing foul play, Enrique decided to marry Ceci for reasons unknown (probably to keep tabs on her and give her children so that she would have legal responsibilities to the Kingdom, I assume). This severely dented Ceci's mobility, and she had to keep taking abortives to prevent Enrique's second plan from fruition, which delayed the invasion for another decade until the political situation stabilized once more for the military to fall into lull once again.

Did I get this right?

So the prince married Cecilia to buy time too, huh? It seems they were aware that Cecilia was bad news all the way back, or at least that Scarlet was set up, wtf?
And they still couldn't do enough to nip it in the bud, this limp-minded government

Lily the fucking boss!
It was sooo satisfying to see her calling Enrique fourth rate - should have kicked him in his non-existent balls too!
