I was focusing on that more because for me I feel the whole "oh hey you were in a bad situation and you tried to kill your family, but that's ok now, we forgive you immediately" is more unrealistic.
Also, my uncle was a bit similar to this idiotic prince (jealous of sibling, was in an uncomfortable position because of family issue and nearly killed his family bc he was at breaking point + he was drunk so wasn't entirely in control of himself). And like I said, it's been years but the relationship is still tense.

Laine forgiving him right away is also freaking insane tbh, but it seems secondary to what I just talked about.

we forgive you immediately

But he's still being punished...Do you think the mom/dad will just casually go visit the border and be like "eyy son how's exile and being living test subject going for ya?" or something?
Or does only execution count as punishment to you? Would make it a little ironic given your uncle is still alive.

I was the First Prince of the Kingdom, Then I Got Banished to the Countryside After Fighting with My Sister, And Now I'm Living the Slow Life
— Algard spin-off

That's way too real, long paragraph titles and all.

so... nearly killing two people and all he got was a slap on the wrist?

If Anis wasn't the MC with plot armor, this could have turned bad for the whole world, considering that the brother was fucking OP and could have become a tyrant with no one stopping him.
They found out that he can't be killed by conventional means. The banishment is to get him away from the people in case he snaps during the experimentation, which most likely trying to find a way to kill vampires permanently.

He's a experimental test subject and has been disowned so I doubt it's a slap on the wrist and I doubt his intention was to kill but sure as all hell didn't do any food either. The cultists... I mean devout followers of magical pixies are most likely behind a whole lot of this.

So...the prince is directly responsible for instigating a coup, attempting to murder two people and his sister, gods know how many poor soldiers loyal on either side were slaughtered while the coup was taking place, because they followed orders.

And all he gets is a retirement in a private resort with all the comforts of a royal member (because THAT is what it is going to be and you bloody well know it) instead of being executed next to the rest of the traitors?
And that's supposed to be a good resolution?

That's one the worst resolutions I've ever read. How are the nobles supposed to react when the main culprit gets a slap on the wrist and a permanent vacation in a Royal summer residence as a punishment, whilst all their peers who took the prince's side were punished with death?
If I were a noble my faith to the crown would have been all but obliterated, first a "heathen" princess who was left alone in her devices and now a rebel vampire prince allowed to live ? Royal bloodlines have fallen for much less in the real world.

And then we have Laine , you are telling me that she had the magicite in her HEART cut out and now everything is ok? no side effects for a gaping hole in the heart?
Sometimes Japanese authors overdo it with the "and everyone lived happily ever after" trope, Karasu literally ruined all this story arc just so nobody (that we know by name) would not die...

ok enough ranting...I used to like this manga but after this shitfest? I don't really think I want to see what's coming next, since it is painfully obvious that this lazy trope of everyone being the poor victim that only needed a hug and that we should pity instead of dislike will continue.

Should've gone with a fist there, girl. It doubles the damage. And doubles the satisfaction too. Considering his status rn and the things he's done, he at least deserved that much.
Punching with your fist increases the risk of injury to your fingers (thanks martial arts mangas), which is important when you're a lady. A slap is much suitable.

I too am surprised that the girl with crippling depression struggled with fully placing the blame on anyone other than herself. I can't believe that the most she could manage was a half hearted "I'll resent you for the rest of my life".

Anyways let's be real. Myself and anyone else going in blind didn't expect anything more than Al being confined to a nearby villa with all the usual creature comforts royalty gets. Being exiled to the outskirts with nothing but the clothes on your back so that you may be experimented upon for the rest of your life is a drastically better punishment than what we thought he was getting.

Maybe those disappointed should write together to the mangaka and request a panel of Al being tortured with every new chapter, just so you can complain about how "having his organs ripped out to test regeneration time" or whatever isn't good enough of a punishment.

being stripped of your nobility disowned by your family and depending on what "research subject" means potentially a loss of freedom as well as being confined to the edge of buttfuck nowhere is not a slap on the wrist even if most of them forgive him for it.

Look up the definition of fantasy then say this again. Also stop bringing your shit IRL life into this it's not only irrelivant when were discussion FICTIONAL STORIES it shows your clear bias.

Not sure how you got “a slap on the wrist” from that.

Next time someone assaults your daughter, gouges out their heart, tries to sexually assault them, succeeds in assaulting another (Euphy) potentially resulting in their suicide, manipulates society to ostracize and corners them, commits high treason, dereliction of duty despite massive privileges, resulting in the murder/execution of entire families and bloodlines (including innocent/unrelated children)...

...then doesn't get immediate summary execution (and public torture, corpse shaming, if medieval times.) And you see them off with a kiss ("tehe-pero").

Let me know.

(This multiplied by 10x or 100x since he literally enjoyed the "role perks" of being a prince, at peasants' expense, with associated responsibility.)

I wish that Algard got the shit beaten out of him after what he did to Anis and everyone else in her villa. A slap was not close enough to what he deserved. But I'm glad this arc is over! :)
