Waiting for Godot has a good twist, but it's a play about nothing ever really happening. There's some films and movies that have good plot twists but they're so well known and culturally ingrained that they're not shocking. (See: Citizen Kane, Fight Club, The Sixth Sense, and Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.)

Honestly, as good as twists can be, I think the best stories don't necessarily need and unpredictable twist, or one that completely turns the narrative on its head. I think the more intense stories to watch are Man vs Fate where the main character is fighting against what is inevitably going to happen or be revealed. Oedipus Rex plays on that and I absolutely love it because the twist isn't shocking to the audience. It's dramatic irony. The only people surprised are the characters by the reveal, and we're on the edge of our seats as the audience, mortified by the truth that we can't avoid and know is coming, but are looking for every possible means for the characters to escape from.

Alesia is seriously my favorite battle of all time. Like damn, besieging a city while ALSO being besieged by the relief force, the commander himself being forced to fight on the front lines while also having to juggle his smaller force against an overwhelming enemy, and coming out on top after a hard-fought fight is some movie-worthy shit.
