Kinda does. It mostly ends with him realizing what a complete and utter tool he was. He remains "Trash" but stops being a hateful spiteful dick for the sake of it...........it serves in contrast to the bitch who gets EVEN WORSE

It's been a long time since I've seen spoilers but yeah it becomes somewhat multiversal which I think is better for something like a light novel vs a manga, unless they let this thing run for a long time

Anime after season 1 skipped and changed too much. Season 1 slightly changed some things, but, not as bad as later seasons. Really sad. Anime was doing really good imo.

I heavily suspect some details of the Hakuko were withheld for reveal in season 4. In season 3, it's revealed (albeit less stridently than it is in this chapter) that Trash was the Staff Hero, and his familiarity with Atla is established early on despite being left similarly unexplored.
