they still have to do the whole bracelet giving thing when (as far as they know) she's the only candidate? Like, even if only one person gives that bracelet, that's one bracelet more than nothing? Is it really necessary to win the knights over? They don't have any other candidate to give it to because our MC hasn't been revealed yet.

action prevented the MC from coming forward, so none of them know who the candidates are. It doesn't really make sense why they didn't just do a physical examination, or why they haven't noticed the enormous symbol on her hand.

If I had to guess, I would say it's a tradition where they have a set 1 year time period for the interactions to take place, during which more candidates can make themselves known. AKA trust in the relics/rites that things will work out if they follow precedent.
