It's most diffently ww1 especially early 1915 since the early war wasn't complete trench warfare yet.

I dont get why the MC needs to be in the frontlines when he/she is a medic, we've seen another medic and she isnt in the front lines(i think). Is the MCs commander very special to go around with so little troupes and treat them as meatshields? So far the commander guy seems like an asshole but still gives a little shti about his people considering he saved the MC and the salsa guy despite them almost getting rained downed by magic artillery.

The genderbend seems unnecessary, same with the reincarnation. The author couldve had just made the MC just a girl or this not being a isekai reincarnation thing... but its still enjoyable i guess.

Her Childhood friend "Kinda Forcefully" brought her to enlist to the Army because he wanted to be a hero.
Well, he died without even a scene in the manga though.


And do you think Army Soldier or Medic have the freedom to be released from the Army in WW1 ?
Or do you think she has a freedom to deny/reject the order from her commander (who is like a DPS Berserker demanding a healer)?

I like the series till now but I am not sure where it is heading..as war seems like it will not stop and mc will remain normal and not some isekai overpowered bs(thankfully it's one of the plus point for me). Still without a goal mc going with the flow is questionable.

Well that’s because Japan has a complicated history when it comes to sexuality, gender and women in general. Ever wondered why TS characters are rarely/never female to male?

For me, I always wonder, "why?" Gender swapping like this very rarely has a purpose.

Even if it is troublesome in other ways, in Tanya it is done to make the main character feel weak. The majority of the time, it is somehow an excuse to sexually harass ladies, which is just ... \sigh

Well, I can say this at least, if the "it is popular, so it must be good" crutch of this is used it is a way to weed out the lesser stories. Don't think any of my top comics use gender swapping as a character trait. My "junk food" list is rife with them though... \sigh

Guys if you want to know why we have gender swap, just look at page 2.
Tho those loli legs don't look as good as they could, but that could be said about all the art in this manga in general.

You should rewatch Violet Evergarden, cose you probably missed like 99% of the story. The only similarity is that there are war in the two and that there is a female MC.

I think it has at least something to with the fact that in Japan (like the Middle East funny enough) it’s better to be trans than it is to be gay so a good work around for gay characters is the gender swapped reincarnation.

That is the logical approach under the assumption that your new body and the re-birth process doesn't change you at all.
But that doesn't have to be the case you know?
There's stories where people slowly forget their past life or just remember it after growing up as their new self. There's plenty of reasons why the answer might not be this straight forward.

I have a feeling it’s sort of that similar vibe to Tanya. But instead of the MC becoming super powerful they are just weak.

The MC is a reincarnated MLG pro gamer dude that is now thrown into a WW1 setting as a weak defendless girl. Their last life’s knowledge and skills have no use and they don’t have some amazing cheat skill. They are never going to be physically strong nor (if this uses 19th century views on women) obtain a high rank or position.

They are quite literally bottom of the barrel and this story is like an antithesis to the usual isekai stories
