Wow, that's some ridiculously high tier dumbassery. If you think the Saint is dirty, then you may as well go march yourself into miasma.

Of course they are haughty. They're in a kingdom that reaps benefits from miasma cleaning without needing the saint themselves.
Why should they care about some roaming air purifiers?
The only way for them to learn better is to ignore their pleas for purification- but that also condemns a different country that is on their border.

Or to destroy their kingdom and merge it into the surrounding empires. That'll learn 'em.

I just have a question, why are they like that tho? Isn't the entire world supposed to like the saints and worship them for reducing the darkness?

Its cause the last few saints have resisted leaving the particular place. They were all extremely xenophobic and scared of everything which makes sense due to time period they were kidnapped from.

Its like a vacuum cleaner that can clean the world but chooses to stay in one place. So the places close to the vacuum gets clean fast and places further away gets clean slowly but everyone still has to pay the same costs. You can see how the a bad impression of the saints can be formed.

As they get out in the world the saints see how bad it was for the prior saints to stay locked up, out of reach of the world.

IIRC from the WN, the country those uptight pricks are from has never had any miasma problems due to how close the saint has always been to them. Since previous saints were scared women who don't want to leave and just live long lives in one place (because I believe this world is 1/1 time with earth, so even the last one was from was 1910s-1930s japan?). And proximity to the saint affects the 'cleanup' effect. So those nobles basically are like 'MIASMA ISN'T EVEN A PROBLEM, THESE SAINTS SURE WASTE OUR MONEY LUL'

edit: Looked back at chapter four, and yeah their country the furthest from the source of the miasma. So the saint being close basically means they have zero miasma problems. So they have zero respect for them since they don't get the problem, being stuck-up people who keep to themselves.

@starlighter It's the same mentality people have against sanitation workers/"undesirable" jobs. They need to be done and without them society would be plague-ridden, but they're still treated with disdain because ew you touch nasty things.

Everybody knows the importance of saints, so if they really want to give them the middle finger, they can demand every other country to cut ties with them, or better blockage them, then see how long they'll last. About the innocent people of that country suffering because of it, well, power is always with the people, if they're too dumb and leave those pricks in charge, that's what they'll get.

I hope those royals get shunned by the international community. I'd love to see everyone just enact a trade embargo on them.
