@Le_Dook

You would if you are hoping someone would care enough to try to talk you out of it. Literally anyone. Because in the depths of despair, just are desperately hoping for something to hold on to.

She got over that rape pretty fast. Also how many rapists are generally enrolled in a Japanese high school?

I like how he didn't belittle the act of trying to suicide.

The solution doesn't really match for me and the whole emotion change in this chapter is drastic but who knows? I can't make assumption that she really doesn't have remaining suicidal thoughts but a new expectation changing life is true, i think. At least for that moment

Maybe they can try to include her usual friends in that scene, just to know how her usual friends will react

Still, with minimal witness hopefully her reputation in school won't get worse. I think suicide-trying student will have bad reputation if known, even by rumor

I'm fucking tired of rape in manga. It is so common in the east. It's disgusting

that's it, her problem is already resolved, no police no counseling.
thumbs up for the author.
This must one of the reason why there are so many suicides in japan. So many people don't seek proper help or call some police for gawdsake.
*if this is real life that girl may still be thinking how to end her life.

@i_need_SMUUUT the US takes it so seriously and their suicide rate keeps going up every year, they'll meet Japans rate in a few years if the trend continues.

@Shewy92 Manga is still REALLY bad at actually showing the extent of mental trauma and the steps needed to get over such a thing. This manga actually went a step ahead of everyone else by actually tackling this possible scenario, especially in such a way that doesn't make the victim as the one who caused the problem.
And yeah... that's a thing. While the overall culture shows a more solid people to tackle problems overall, it also makes individuals demonized if they can't properly conform. If you are being bullied? It's YOUR fault for being an ideal target. If you have a mental disorder of some kind? You must be FIXED, not cured or helped. Progress has ensured this kind of view is, overall, on the backburner... it's still a problem and hasn't been truly addressed still overall in asian cultures.

Sensei is a fun character to say the least. Not sure how I feel about it being resolved in such a manga-esque way but I greatly appreciate pointing out just what it takes to make a decision like suicide. Saying something like "there's much better to live for" means nothing in the face of what was lost. The way to tackle this was to address her issue directly, which in this case is mental trauma and the self-image that she feels dirty/can't get married. A simple mostly comedic promise irl most likely would not have had the same impact it had here but we as readers understood the point so it served it's purpose.

I feel that the author tried very hard to explain philosophy and ethics in realistic situations. I like the effort. But I concede that he may have portrayed a Japanese school too negatively through two consecutive chapters of sexual violence scenes.

That went from 20 to 100 real quick.

Also, I'm not convinced that she's really okay now. I feel like she will break down crying when out of the teacher's sight a little later.

Ok so the moral in the story is that everyone can get away with rape in japan.

Yugen

I pity that "smart" girl. I pity her because I was exactly like that in highschool. Always belittling others around me, thinking I was higher than them all. Ah, how wrong was I, I had to literally have experiences and broad my horizons to come to begin understanding how everyone has their own lives and experiences that have the same value as mine. In short, Yugen

@Doomroar @danklamp you would be surprised. Japan is pretty fucked up in that aspect, even more so than the West. The government turns a blind eye and the media covers up cases like that.

more or less beating the crap out of a dead horse here, but yeah, this end of this chapter just kind of goes by way too fast and pushes a "happy" ending. the overall atmosphere of this manga is so dark and gloomy that i get the mangaka feeling a need to break that up with "and then things were okay!" but i think concerning the subject matter here, they should've at least saved this story for a two parter. this also uhhhhh didn't really have anything to do with ethics. i read a few more chapters after this one and liked them more, though.
