Define NTR with your own word.....

NTR to me is a genre with a bittersweet ending, because there is no happy ending without a pain. Making or writing NTR is hard, its equal to write a cosmic horror, where you cant see the monster like bird box and thus why many NTR story dont exist.
Of course just to a certain extend, when i see wifes getting raped in front of their husbands or something similar then that's where i call bullshit, it hurt emotionally, but this kind of NTR is alrd a ton.

A near real life NTR that i think is good : Kimi Nu Iru Machi and School Days, also a manga or anime that contain NTR.

Conclusion : Making NTR is hard, dont hate it too much, hate the one who makes the wifes getting raped or something similiar.

Note : NTR is the genre we should be thankful for, because of it we know how painful is it to experience some kind of bullshit, so in the future we will be ready for that kind of sh*t or not.

Ain't nothing that can prepare you for Netorare. I still remember my first encounter with it. There I was watching what seemed to be a nice vanilla hentai for a good solid 10 mins then the old men came never has my heart felt such anger, sadness, and over all dejection in such a short span of time. That shit left me feeling down for the next couple of days. I don't remember the name of the series but i'd recognise the art if I saw it.

@sterven well that's what i called bullshit. I do have that kind of experience, and i have a mental breakdown for several days because of that and yes everyone is not prepared for some of kind that feeling, but if you alrd have an intuition about it, youll be slighty ready for the feels. here's some example poor fellas, press F in the comment below

Note : never ever read NTR hentai, or youll be back stabbed or possibly bamboozoled by the author. (or a hentai with ugly bastard and ntr tag in it)

What??? I thought School Days was a comedy? Jokes aside.

Like with everything, the thing with NTR is, if it's used properly it can actually be interesting, something like Natsuyuki Rendezvous or Byousoku 5 Centimeter are the closest thing to NTR that is somewhat good. Byousoku 5 Centimeter showing the bitter but realistic ending for a distanced relationship with no communication, and Natsuyuki Rendezvous is a romance with a widow but with an added perspective of the dead husband as a ghost.

What gives NTR infamy is how its mostly been used willy-nilly. I personally hate implied NTR more than the usual hentai NTR, nothing is more frustrating when you're reading a romance then they start putting on some NTR vibes for "some drama".

@KMoore damn, straight fact.

Yup, NTR is interesting if the author use it properly, but some human in earth out of nowhere decided to make it some kind of jokes or some shit.

Since when is NTR an entire genre? You wouldn't call mind control or forniphilia "genres", regardless of how frequently they might appear in media.

As for what it is to me, I feel the same way about it as I do for feet and lolis; a fetish like any other, but with an obnoxiously vocal following that feels the need to trumpet the fact it exists to score Internet cred points (or, worse still, in real life). Like furries, only with less disposable income and sometimes coated with an equally obnoxious layer of ironic egging-on from the sidelines. It also tends to flood H-websites since it's trendy, but whatever; it sells and has the benefit of being as niche as MILFs, it's to be expected..

If we're talking about NTR as just cheating in the non-meme sense, I feel about it as I do for love triangles; it benefits some plots, but often it just drags things down with unnecessary baggage.

If you means in terms of an actual story, NTR is a tool and it could be interesting to see.

Personally, I'd find it interesting if it's framed as one character getting another out of an abusive relationship, and the cheating is more a byproduct.

Alternatively, By Spring arguably has it so Yuri thinks Haru, a prostitute, is trying to steal her man away and that his mother thinks both of them are trying to steal him away from her, leading to some interesting developments for the emotionally neglected and bullied MC, which isn't NTR in the traditional sense but is important for how the characters develop

When I was young, NTR made me feel disgusted. Just the thought of them made me feel "I want to punch this author/artist"
But now, I just "meh" but sometimes it's kind unsettling/disturbing. The art is great tho
(why don't they just draw vanilla...)
Netori is sometimes nice tho (just pls no ugly bastard/creepy guy)
Those fking ugly bastards, creepy guy, gyaru guy. Fk those guys. I just like seeing the girls' faces when they fk, so hot

There's a doujin where
a housewife was taken away from her abusive/violent husband and was bought by a kind guy. She loves to have sex with the guy who, because he was truly gentle and kind. Then she killed ex-husband to protect the guy. Her memory was erased and got personality got replaced.... man that was sad :(

NTR isn't genre, more like a tag. Don't like it at all, but it depends on the story.

I do find it interested that NTR arise because Japanese culture and history.

i read the sad panda entries for this tag often and i like it mainly for the promiscuity; and the cuckoldry is just added fun in a sadistic way. i got into it from the moral degeneration tag, since it has similar themes but tbh ntr is more mild. also i kinda like the ugly bastard trope too in the same degenerative way. i dont really care about the rape aspect of either tags though, imo the more volitional the interaction is, the more the cheating aspect of ntr is emphasized.
For its function in a non-ero media: idk its just okay, like its usually played off for shock emotional tension if you sympathize with the cuckold but tbh a reasonable guy shouldn't be that possessive to begin with, so i never get entrapped by that. as they say "she belong to the streets." so for me it just becomes just a negligible plot development, could be interesting or not depending on the surrounding events.

Talkin about hentai-wise
most NTR have a way much better arts and sex scenes and I get my doujins for jerkin off so I'm fine with it.
Vanilla usually too bland for me, like look at the absoluet classic MTSP Jin Tachibana-san's Circumstances With a Man the NTR-side is soo much better and hot than the vanilla-setups one, too bad Jin just being a lazy ass instead of milking the Tachibanas forever.

@Pantsman Home wrecker hentai is interesting for me, because you can see the husband/wife's character development very clearly.

@comedyxtragedy yes, like your name.
I used to think that my life was a tragedy, but now i realize it was a comedy.
-Some random hentai character.

@KatoShuu and @Jowershell
Two guy with a different taste and different story.
Also, its doesnt matter to me if the hentai have ugly bastard or sometin, and yes i do sometime hate it, but there is a reason why do i hate it : 1. If the dude come out of nowhere and started to fuck 2. Stupid story, rather i find it funny.

@MawMaw all i can say i agree with arts and sex scene, but some of it has a fucked up story, so i rather read vanilla for the story and the happy ending.

To me NTR is just shitty drama.

In a good (or even just decent) dramatic story you have well developed characters with different reasonable viewpoints clashing in a conflict, which oftentimes can only resolve in tragedy. Sometimes it will make you uneasy and sometimes it will make you just side with one of the characters, but the medium still makes you explore other viewpoints and makes you think.

NTR is drama, but reduced in the usual fashion as other story elements in any pornographic material: instead of characters, you have bland stereotypes (ugly bastard, spineless dude, horny girl) in a basic setting like a boring relationship, or one sided admiration, without any real background, except that someone might be obliviously innocent or inexplicably cruel.

Any 'good NTR' is just drama, and NTR is just the tag given to stereotypical cheating and relationship stories in hentai, that some people get their rocks off to.

In another analogy: Drama is like a wildlife documentary, cruel at times, but realistic and just the circle of life; NTR is like someone filming a caged lion tearing a live goat apart, because some people enjoy gore.

for me it's simple
NTR is the future of a dishonest relationship with a little bit of extreme twist
