I haven't commented on this series, but it's so nice to be getting updates for this. Thank you for translating it. It's such a classic feeling gritty martial story, like something out of 80s, but with some modern isekai conventions.

I felt bad for the deer, but that was an engaging fight as well. They really sell that this is a world where everyone is fighting to survive.

I don't understand these guys. They enter the challenge and when they lose they seek revenge. In theory, the purpose of a challenge is precisely to prevent this type of behavior. They're dying for nothing!

It does seem pretty illogical, but they have egos. It's also known that people who are seen as weak will be targeted by others, which has some real world basis from what I was told by someone who grew up in Detroit during its violent period. They may feel that the damage to their reputation by losing to a newcomer with no social status is severe enough that they can't just accept the situation and move on.

The challenge isn’t supposed to be fair, its the system they put in place so that they could rule over the adventurers without it seeming unjust. They never thought there would be someone who could actually win, so they get angry when their authority and rule is challenged. The boss is part of it also.
