This story would make much more sense if their looks and actions matched their ages.
Make it coming of age party at 15. Make him her attendant at 13. Sure, they can meet at 7, but make them act like normal 7 year olds (like idk bright kid becoming a friend with a gloomy girl, to build childhood friends memories to use as a basis for romance - LATER ON).
7 yo kid besting any adult in combat is simply impossible. 10 yo kid being able to actually plan a huge party is equally impossible. Adults relying on a 10 yo kid is just stupid.

I just hope we'll quickly get a timeskip like 5-7 years into the future (and not just because i want MC to stop wearing shota shorts).

Those ages just have to be a some kind translation error, considering how both of them look or act, not to mention how weird a party like this is to someone aged ten. Young children of high standing were often held very close to chest outside of select circles. If you are aiming at something like a debutante with this, you are at least half a decade off. That aside, even outwardly, has the author actually seen a child? Interacted with one?

Not that I actually suspect a TL error, I'm just grasping at straws.

That IMO might be the main issue.
Kinda looks like author had the story in mind already, and then wanted to create childhood friends out of MMC and FMC, but had no idea how to include it properly. So he just removed some years, added few timeskips and here we go, children are small adults, just less busty/in shorts.
I'd understand if it was WN, but it's weird that no editor decided to fix that during manga adaptation.
