I love Rei's mother thinking her opinion matters here. Her son cheated on his wife and has been a terrible husband not to mention the mother in law sucks too. But the mother in law, who pushed her son to getting married with someone who would look good for him, now decides its her fault and that she has a say or power. Honestly as great as getting away from Rei will be, leaving that mother in law will be 5x better.

As expected, Itsuki is the controlling type. That Rio so easily complied suggested trauma.

He likely doesn't even want a divorce. For him, she needs to be punished, not to be set free. People were too blinded by the revenge game to see that someone who could pull this after feigning calm as long as he did had to have issues. Nobody's perfect, and if he was, why would Rio cheat with that clown? Her standards would be too high.

Regardless, Rio deserves no sympathy from me. Itsuki is one thing, but Mahoro deserved none of what Rio did. Now Rei, holy shit this guy is the worst.

i think the issue is that rio internalized the mindset kyoko described- viewing friendship between women solely as an avenue for competition. she envied mahoro's comparitively carefree life with her loser husband and tried to sabotage it so that she could reassert her standing among her friends. she was so locked into viewing them as inferior that she didnt stop to consider that if she actually addressed them as equals and asked them for help she couldve gotten out of her horrific marriage with an intact social circle.

So Rio definitely ain't innocent, but she got a pretty bad run of it herself. Think she might be genuinely fucked since she's the adulterer in her case, meaning he can have the law fuck her harder than Rei did.
