Oof, she gets manipulated by whatever that thing is at the end who influences her later actions. Unfortunate, because NOBODY was probably there to be her good role model and only that person at the end who saves her, meaning her morals would be fucked. Too bad that it still makes her a horrible person, its just that the reason for how she became that way was through manipulation and lack of good people around her. She would have most likely been a good person if somebody actually cared about her like a proper mother or just anybody who had good morals to befriend her.

The issue with the idea of redemption for her at this point, is that we've had an entire arc about Raoul measuring how tainted people's souls are. If there were some possibility of undoing said taint through extended periods of suffering, he'd presumably have done that instead of just instantly brutally murdering them and sending them to hell. And hell has explicitly been stated to be a one way trip during the bit with the saintess. As far as has been established, this "soul taint" stuff is simply permanent.

So while little Vicky here was a good girl who didn't deserve any of this shit, no amount of crucified bugfood delivery service is going to make her adult soul better. Anything short of her memories being completely rewritten with those of her childhood self would be kind of a cop-out. People aren't mad she has a sad backstory, they're mad that it's generally going to be used to make Raoul forgive her. Then again Raoul might just go "yeah so, I don't give a fuck time to punish her some more lol" anyway.

I do like how it forces a moral question, on how much punishment is acceptable and how much is too much. But lets add in this factor. A god is involved in this equation. Imagine seeking salvation and a god comes down and tells you to do evil. For most people they'd have no choice given the situation, and most people would fear what would happen if you don't do as your god tells you.
While I am not excusing all the awful things she is done, I can at least sympathized what made her into a monster.
Born and raise in that family, and in order to survive you had to be ruthless, despite her nature originally being pure, idealistic and innocent. Then add in a malicious god in the mix, and you get a mess of a person.
Regardless this chapter foreshadows quite a bit on why our MC kept her alive rather then kill her and have her suffer in hell for the longest time. And it is likely he has plans for her.
The only problem is that the author's timing on giving her backstory is 120-130 chps too late. Once everyone made up their minds on said person.
