Well, as long as Aurora isn't lying about it all, at least she was actually sick and not pretending. If she was lying... damn, she is a good liar.

I think we can all agree that is mostly the parents' fault. If they hadn't put so many expectations on Karina, she would have turned out like a good kid and would have enjoyed her childhood. If their house wasn't as oppresive, Aurora wouldn't have been so scared of breaking the gift she got. I mean, most of the time the child would just cry and be sad they broke their gift and the parents woudl comfort them.

Aurora might not have had much as she was "just a sick child". But she was the favorite child. She was the only child those pieces of DNA cared about. So she could have helped her sister by throwing a tantrum. There are probably many situations she could have used to stop her parents from treating Karina like crap. Same about the rumors about Karina. There's a lot she could have done.

Karina may or may not have been a bitch during her time in the capital. I'm not sure anymore. I'd say 85% is the parents's fault. 10% Aurora's. 5% Karina's. Maybe 10 and 10 for the sister, 80 for the DNA donors.

I doubt Aurora going to Karina and apologizing would change much right now. Even if she understood Aurora's POV, she still got hurt. She still got almost killed by assassins. Her apology doesn't change that. Let's see where this goes. I'd like some heavy violence against the prince and the DNA donors.

"Those pieces of DNA" is my new favorite slur for bad parents.

I do agree, more the serie shows their parents more my opinion of them plummet

What if the twist is that the elder sister was actually the villainess all along?
> Title: The Villainess' Bride
> look inside
> Villainess Bride

Her story technically contradicts chapter 4 pages 12-13.
Are you comparing that to page 24 of this chapter? Chapter 4 shows when she got exiled, while this chapter is her engagement to the prince.

I think it doesn't help Aurora doesn't really know much about Karina right now. She mentioned before that she and FL didn't talk much, but now that we know that her last effective encounter was when she was still a child, her 'perspective' on her sister is stuck - this is probably one of the starting points where Karina started resenting over the situation. Aurora likely still sees Karina as her kind older sister probably.

I'm not even sure about the DNA Donors tbh. I am so confused on them. The parents definitely failed Karina, as it seemed like they both knew that they threw Karina to the lions. But at the same time, the mother was distraught when she met Eve about the status of Karina and seemed convinced that she would have made a good consort. Additionally, she seemed to realise something off in one of the snippets in this chapter (but didn't bother continuing on it, seriously) and she was worried when Karina was with Reshutoka - a monster from her perspective.

I think it's going to be a similar situation to Karina's initial revenge. Aurora will fail at trying to 'save' her sister, but I think unlike Karina, she'll probably keep trying or still try to help her. Aurora has been passive most of the time, but is finally taking the initiative when it comes to Karina's safety - even the prince was surprised about this and her glaring at him

That being said, Reshutoka is the only person who can even help Karina. Right now, Karina literally doesn't trust anyone and is extremely depressed. Her mother could say that she was wrong a hundred times, but I just can't see it working. Reshutoka is the only one Karina doesn't really have expectations for (as she was more a tool for her) and the wolfkin doesn't seem to have a concrete opinion on her, as she is more or less roleplaying the book. Plus, Eve and Aurora seem convinced that Reshutoka will kill her, so that definitely isn't happening.

I feel like the big piece we're still missing is just what the hell Karina did while she was queen-in-training. If Karina learned something she shouldn't have, there's no sign from her sections that she's aware of it.

The Prince also just being obsessed with Aurora is on the table.

I do wonder what the hell the king is doing during all of this.

I just hope Aurora gets a wife out of this too

like c'mon

beastkin scribe girl and her wife and Aurora all go to the north and have some conflict with Karina but then Aurora gets a wife too and then they all go kick the prince's butt together, that would be absolute cinema
idk, after reading this chapter I think there's only one woman Aurora would want to marry, and I don't think the story is gonna go in that direction.

Someone else thinks that Aurora will tell prince that Eve is wolfkin and prince will either banish or execute Eve so she had stop investigation?

As much as what was disclosed doesn't really justify anything, and the sister is still culpable, and that an extra-twist could be fun -- it does make the animosity make more sense.

The Prince is an asshat and I guess he was taking out his anger on Karina since he never even cared about her (or pretended to care). Karina is always protecting her sister and her family and only ever suffers from it, so it makes sense that she's just done with them now.
I'm still not sure what her overarching plan is, since it seems she intends on dying by the end of this. (or at least not staying with the wolves). Maybe she wants to prop herself up as a witch so that nobody targets her sister...I'll be interested in seeing where this goes.

I mean technically the only thing needed for "conspiracy" is that the crown THINK Karina learned something she shouldn't have. Wherever this is true or not is irrelevant (especially considering on how Orlando is shown to be impulsive)
Someone else thinks that Aurora will tell prince that Eve is wolfkin and prince will either banish or execute Eve so she had stop investigation?
This would be the end of Aurora possible redemption and would make everything she said untrustable by default, unless she do it under duress. So I hope the author never go there

We can say that the story wants to keep things grey, but nothing we know about Aurora really excuses her. At best she passively observed her sister's reputation getting tarnished, her getting banished, and her life attempted to be taken. And that is at best by her own point of view.

So no, she is pretty guilty. She is at best not actively malicious: not irredeemable, but it should certainly take a lot of effort to do so as she absolutely enabled - knowingly - all the misfortune of her sister. If the story actually wants to presents it as "oh she just didn't know, oh she is just a bit passive, she is a good girl" then it is badly executed. Her inaction goes way beyond what could be excused.

Overall I don't want to judge the story too much yet, as things could resolve fine but I also don't have high hopes.

Also, Karina still did nothing wrong. The attempts to make up shit to justify her sister's actions are getting silly.
Do you mean Aurora glaring at Karina? There's no context to what Aurora was feeling in that moment to say its a contradiction. Karina clearly interpreted it as malice, but it could have been frustration

We don't really know Aurora's perspective on the Prince at this point, but considering he's someone willing to assassinate his former fiancé and strike her from the history books, and also his general demeanor throughout the story, he seems violently unhinged, so openly opposing him by trying to counteract him destroying Karina's reputation could have just ended up in him banishing/killing Aurora too

Aurora wasn't privy to what was happening in the kingdom; Karina was taken from House Crocus and effectively cut off, and her family were not aware of much of what went down at the time as a result.

Aurora, also, was still sickly, and up until she was actively targeted again by Orlando, she would have been oblivious to Karina's treatment and perdicament. She would have found out afterward when Karina was already being exiled, but even then -- it's still the Prince, it's still the Crown, and House Crocus is still a noble family in name only with no real power or sway in the kingdom's politics.

Beyond that, we are told here that Aurora has a habit of keeping quiet that's persisted since early childhood. Arguably, she's now being the most proactive that we've ever seen her, but she had always relied on Karina before, who had always stepped up to cover for Aurora immediately whenever something was happening. Because her parents sheltered Aurora so much, she never learned to take agency, and Karina arguably enabled that behavior. Doesn't mean it was right, but we do have it as a consistent character trait through the timeline from more than one perspective, now.

Plus, it's been heavily inferred that Orlando was the source of the twisted rumors against Karina, due to his displeasure at getting the sister he didn't want. Because of the political mire embroiling the kingdom, those rumors would have spread far and wide by the time Aurora or House Crocus would have heard them...and there's presently no information that says Karina didn't behave in a way that makes the rumors at least partially true.

So Aurora, even as Orlando's primary target, really wouldn't have been in any position to help Karina until it was too late, and now she simply has tried to help Karina in a way that doesn't elicit suspicion from the Crown: dissuading sending soldiers northward, trying to "liven up" the castle to make it more comfortable (in her mind), talking down those who wished to go after Karina after the Wedding Debacle, and declaring that she would do something about Karina herself.

All of it tracks with Aurora's testimony here. She loves Karina dearly, but to the point of possessiveness and obsession. She wanted everything that Karina had--not to take those things from her, but to simply be as close/alike to Karina as possible. Even the stuffed toy from the family member fits here; it was Karina's, and by possessing it Aurora would get something of her Sister to have with her. An effigy or talisman, almost. She was just too young and ignorant of the subtext to see what was happening when she desired it, and what that did to Karina.

Her seeking to marry Orlando and become Queen is also in-line...in that after the fact, she's learned how poorly Karina was treated, and seeks to "save" her big sister from that abuse and misery. She was heartbroken over finding out Karina was made to take her place all those years before, after all--and now she seeks to try and save Karina so that they can be together again (or so she believes/wishes).

This was probably one of the worse attempts at whitewashing for a character in manga i've seen recently. She was silent during childhood because she was afraid. Sure. What happened during the following 5314141 instances where the name of her oh so beloved sister were being dragged through mud ultimately leading to her exile in disgrace while she replaced her? (during which she maintained a stonecold face as well) Literally EVERYONE in the kingdom thinks FMC was and still is the satan incarnate.

She quite literally watched her sister's condemnation and the plot of assassination (of which she thought was successful and sister was dead) from the front row. Karina is currently alive due to poor dumb luck and you wanna "save" her now? The fucking audacity.

What a bunch of bullshit. Only way to salvage this is to make her actually evil and currently lying through her teeth for her own agenda. For a selective mute, she had a lot to say to a complete stranger.

I think you missed part of the frame. This isn't a whitewashing, it's not making Aurora innocent. The narration is clear that, while everything is presented in the context of biased point of views, her actions, or better said lack thereof, was one of the element of the events that concluded in Karina's banishment and attempted assassination. And this can hold true even if she isn't outright evil, and that can people can hurt others without recognizing it, an hurt that can, and will, develop over the years.
Criticizing Aurora for not speaking against Orlando before is not a good point: the assassination was ordered by Orlando (or by the king), and we know he is a damn brat, aggressive and impulsive that doesn't like to be contradicted. It's not even stated that Aurora was there when the decision was firstly made. She could have been informed later, and at that time speaking up would change nothing, and worsening her standing. She did speak up, objecting to Orlando's plan of sending the military, convincing it it was over the top.
Also Orlando have a vested interest in demonizing Karina, so contradicting him on that is stupid, consider he is royalty.
Also the crown, probably put Aurora and Karina both under surveillance, it's not a stretch to think both of them weren't free to meat each other easily. The distance between the 2 only grew up until everything crashed down during the annulment

None of this makes any difference because if not for dumb luck, Karina would be dead right now. And even Aurora is surprised that she is still alive. Her entire "my beloved sister" schtick is a meaningless gesture with crocodile tears after the fact and best course of action she can take is staying out of Karina's sight and life for good. If she is a powerless damsel, how is she planning to "save" Karina with an homicidal psychopathy at her side? She stopped him saying she will "take care of it" but now prince has seen that she, in fact, did not take care of it. What power does she have now that she didn't have previously to think that she can "save" her? She never opposed the prince who intends to kill Karina on sight and he will never back down but she will oppose him now? His royalty status is still intact so now what?
