Humanity has also caused an untold amount of happiness and peace. Just because there's a shitload of both isn't a reason to give up on the entire speciesAnd yet humanity has caused untold amount of tragedy on level if not far worse than what this story portrays.
This wasn't even close to what I was talking about. The thing is, people aren't entirely driven by human nature. People are multi-faceted human beings with motivations and goals. No, I'd say this is pretty accurate and indicative of human nature when given power and authority. As the saying goes, "Absolute power corrupts absolutely".

Asking the real questions.Where's the romance tag
That's what my original comment was about. And since you replied to it, in turn, is related to this exchange.I never said anything about "giving up on humanity".
I never said it was impossible.I was simply saying that this entire set-up is entirely possible, as things similar to or even worse than this were done in our very history.
Literally none of this is related to my original commentHumans are by their very nature greedy, selfish and self-centered, focused on their own desires and needs. True altruism doesn't exist, because even altruism is done for selfish reasons (to make one feel better about themselves or accomplished or to pursue a goal). Yes, humans are multi-faceted and exceptions always exist, but it is literally impossible to step away from our base human nature... because that is what MAKES us human. Accepting this fact is paramount to understanding WHY people do what they do, good OR bad.
