To those asking if this is new wife. No, this high elf isn’t.

From LN, Souma’s list of wives.
Liscia - Elfrieden princess
Roroa - Amidonian princess
Aisha - daughter of dark elf chief
Juna - granddaughter of Duchess Walter
Naden - a ryuu, her ryuu form is based off the Chinese dragons.
Maria Euphoria - Euphoria Empress
Yuriga Haan - younger sister of Fuuga Haan

The last two happen much much much later in the LN.
I'm a bit curious here.
How Maria enter Souma's harem? Did something happened with the Empire?

i mean, i donno what actually happens BUT, i can make an educated guess:

She's a young woman, leading the empire, during a crisis(the demon lord) and the empire needs an heir in case something happens to her(and in general). Since her sister is more of the General fighting at the front type of "princess knight", and no other mentions of family members... Who better for an Empress to marry and make said heir if not the King of another big country? could also set up a succession war down the road to unify the two nations...like, in 2-3 generations. Or could happen peacefully.

Damn, that's a bunch of dialogue and it looked fairly redraw intensive in a few spots. Nice job.

Maria
A military leader named Fuga Huan annexed more territory just south of the Demon lord Domain. When he is threatening the Empire and some want to join, Maria invokes the Mankind Declaration and splits the Empire. She then abdicates her role. Jean takes over with Hakyua as her prince consort, while Maria takes a role of second queen, so aby kids of hers won't be eligible for the Fredonia throne.

This doesn't sound like something they should be telling someone they just met, and he's from another kingdom, basically a spy

Sadly this is not what happens.

This is closer but tv trope isn't exact with this and needs correcting on some parts.

Extensive LN spoilers:
Fuuga Haan is a leader of a small nation that's part of the Union of Eastern Nations. He first unites the various tribes under his rule. Then he starts his dream of unification of the entire continent. While also reclaiming the lost lands that had been taken over by the Demon Lord's domain. This starts a massive change across the continent. Fuuga's growing empire first conquers all of the Union of Eastern Nations. Due to an earlier plot point, Souma is taking care of Fuuga's younger sister Yuriga, this particular point is basically the whole "Fuuga won't conquer Friedonia since Yuriga is staying there and Souma wouldn't dare harm Yuriga or threaten harm either because of how wary Souma is of Fuuga." Fuuga also agrees that fighting Souma would be bad due to Fuuga's instinct thinking that Souma would pull the rug out under him if the two fought.

This eventually leads to 3 major powers developing. The Gran Chaos Empire which has kept the status quo and uses the Mankind Declaration's as the reason for not expanding north like Fuuga's Empire. Fuuga's Empire eventually conquering so much territory that his empire rivals the Gran Chaos Empire. The 3rd power, the Maritime Alliance, developed with Friedonia in open alliance with several other nations, this one focusing on naval power.

Due to a certain pandemic that happened, Fuuga finds out about Friedonia and Gran Chaos Empire having cooperated before. Fuuga takes the initiative and has his younger sister Yuriga engaged to Souma. Basically as a way to tie down Souma from being able to act against Fuuga for the next step. Which is to go to war with the Gran Chaos Empire to take territory.

Meanwhile in the Gran Chaos Empire, Maria is concerned about how some of her vassals are acting about expanding to the north. She knows her empire can't deal with expanding and thinks of a certain solution. Due to rising discontent with her passive approach, some of her vassals eventually betray her and join together with Fuuga's army. This leads to the capital being threatened, Maria's sister Jeanne is stuck in a fort unable to help Maria. Fuuga's army calls for Maria's surrender. Maria makes the decision to make a final speech and decides to martyr herself for the sake of citizens and jumps off the balcony. However Souma is revealed to have gotten there in time to rescue Maria. Souma makes a declaration that the Maritime Alliance will stop the war, the Maritime Alliance nations simultaneous attack various points of Fuuga's Empire, causing Fuuga's army to stop.

A conference is held and terms are made. Fuuga keeps the territory he's taken and the vassals that had joined him. The Gran Chaos Empire now reduced in size becomes the Euphoria Kingdom, Maria abdicates the throne to Jeanne. Souma takes Maria with him and she becomes another of his secondary Queens. Meanwhile the newly crowned Jeanne takes Hakuya as her husband and basically the Euphoria Kingdom joins the Maritime Alliance and is directly allied with Freidonia. This leads to only 2 major powers now existing at this point. The Maritime Alliance and Fuuga's Empire. Fuuga also finds out that Maria purposely moved her discontent vassals in such a way that she designed how the Gran Chaos Empire would break as it did, and Souma was in the know as well that Maria had planned to break apart the Gran Chaos Empire. Fuuga comments how Maria is stronger than she looks, Souma makes the comment that he learned that lesson long time ago with his wives.

Maria(she cuts off her long hair to have only short hair) and Yuriga officially marry Souma afterwards. Fuuga focuses on conquering the rest of the Demon Lord's Domain while leaving Maritime Alliance alone. However due to now becoming brother-in-laws, Fuuga plans to have Souma join him in conquering the rest of the Demon Lord's Domain. Souma isn't able to refuse at this point.

You just explained in such details that it made me want to continue reading the novel. I just stopped at vol. 14, where Fuuga Han just started to be a formidable leader.
