In my opinion, it's presented as "funny" for now because the MC has no idea of what's happening since it's happening during some sort of "sleep trance"... we realized it right at the first occurrence because we know what's going on, though the MC is starting to realize it too and when the ball drops or Sylphy tells him, I bet he'll be pissed off with them to some extent, because if I recall correctly, MC said in previous chapters that he only has eyes for Sylphy, even when she asked if he had interest in anyone else.

As the meaning specifically mentions "females" for the explanation of Harem. The word Reverse-Harem was coined (specifically as a genre) to showcase the opposite.

Also him messing with there feathers was probably sexual harassment, and accepting a feather from them probably had a meaning he didn't know. Doing so he may have given some form of acceptance without knowing, and so telling the harpies no isn't being accepted, and Silphy had to figure out a solution to keep the peace.
