You know what, sometimes the chef ends up making carcinogens, and you just gotta crunch em up, and they're honestly kinda fine.
Would be funny as fuck is this somehow ended up just being Usagi Drop.

I still feel like him being the father is better than whatever development this guy had planned
It could be worse. Much, much, worse.

This comment section is so fuckin' insane, man. So many of you need help. This is a short fluffy comic with 6 chapters you totally insane maniacs

There is NOTHING wrong with you.

There is literally nothing wrong with you, aside from allowing comments to convince you that what's going on here is somehow a huge asshole move instead of an unexpected benefit to both of them. Everyone who's convinced its some sort of grift and manipulation have gone out of their way to ignore that we've seen her go to work and come back. We have no reason to assume she's not helping to pay for groceries. This is a cute manga where three people are placed together due to a sudden change in circumstances.

Somehow, orcs have descended upon this comment section and have decided to spend their time being confused at the idea of 're-found friendship and re-discovered love' and 'generosity to someone in need' and 'people enjoying the company of others.' All things that normal people implicitly get and don't need to be explained to them.

I expect it to go for a romance route. They very clearly mean a lot to each other. As an artist, he has never painted portraits of anyone other than her. While the orcs here are crying SIMP BETA CUCK, human beings, with intrinsic understanding of romantic notions, can see that what that's meant to show is an eternal connection and a fated love. See, it's not that he's hung up on her and can't let go. He clearly did. They weren't living together and he hadn't talked to her in years. It's that she's his muse, someone who inspires him to greater artistic heights.

It's the kind of character beat that happens in Hallmark movies because its so obvious, expected, and easily understood. Audiences quickly get what it means, nodding along with the clear demonstration of how important someone is to someone else even if there's lots of other things going on. Yes, this handsome reclusive artist is a bit prickly and may be a little sharp-tonged, but he's only ever painted pictures of our female lead. Clearly, this means he has a deep connection to her. They also nod their heads when the female lead comes to him when she's in trouble, even though they haven't spoken in a while. "Ah," they say. "I understand. They have a deep connection that transcends space and time." And they watch as they clash and they struggle to get along and adapt to circumstances, all while rooting for them both, because they get that the things they've seen clearly mean that these two are meant to be.
wow a heated response. I kinda get it though, but I still disagree. There's only so far that "kindness" and "generosity" will justify and an acquaintance from 17 years ago rocking up with a child to crash at your place (appearing inside your backyard, mind you) is probably a little out there, even granted the leniency of wacky manga logic since this is, after all, a slice of life manga that is at least set in a society meant to mimic ours.

I think most of the negative responses this manga is getting (mine included) is because we, as people, inevitably read into the text and pick up "implications", whether they were intended by the author or not; the lack of explanation to not just us but to the protagonist and the characters' attitudes setting up some sort of underlying tension works to establish tension because much of the info we've been given points towards things that undermine the fluff of the series. Add that to the way this series is presented (as a fluffy SoL) and some readers will think that this entire situation is perverse (in the wow, this isn't right kinda way) and that they've been bait and switched on.

I would agree with the idea of her being his muse, actually, if we ever get more focus on his artistry but given the lack of chapters currently I think that idea is a little lacking. I don't think its that the so-called "Orcs" (people who disagree with you) don't get that these two are going to end up together (that is pretty predictable) it is that they believe that they SHOULDN'T be together that causes them to lash out.

Ah but of course this is all from someone who never really "got" the idea of an artist's muse in the first place. I understand it's existence, but I find the attachment of these artists and poets to be something that I can't quite comprehend. Perhaps that is why. But it does lead me (and, from the number of hate comments and reviews, a fair amount of others) to find this series to be different from its intended portrayal.

tldr: nah, thats not normal bro wtf

The woman is just abusing a person she knew wouldn't say not to her de facto freeloading. I mean, at least try to give a timeline, explain what the hell is happening to the best you can or feel comfortable with, if you're not going to pay you should at least talk imo. Instead she just goes " lol remember when you pegged me 20 years ago? well time to cash in, let me crash at your place with my daughter and let me not tell a single thing , also feed us both thanks :^)". I feel bad for the guy
Peg them is the next course, author wills it. O.y.a.k

EN webs- raged at the real life implications.

JP webs- raging harden @ loli.

How did her food go cold?

Harapeko Oyako probably swallowed her food and the family's meal finished in 3 seconds tops.

the story is literally not going anywhere, this is basically just this since chapter 1. will she tell him? will she not? will they leave? will they not? will he stop being indecisive and just ask once and for all or will he just let them live with him without anything in return?
I don't know what the author's plan for this one but it's losing its charm

If it goes somewhere, it's OYAKODON! Usagi Drop! OKAERI, PAPA!!!

Yes there is nothing good here, moving forward.

We are on a STEEP downhill CLIFF, luckily the author has some bungee and carabiners and crampons. To cushion his plot.
