So, whats the deal with these kinds of stories and trying to be way too much more than they actually are?
I guess its personal but:
You start these kind of magic academy romance stories, and you stay for the fluff and cute character moments and the tsundere shit. Then you get invested in the characters and you want to learn more about them and their relationships and boom theres an overarching plot. Kaguya-Sama did this kind of thing really well balancing characters, main couple and the bigger plot.
But nah, get politics, human trafficking, underdeveloped cookie cutter side characters, and everything but the main couple antics in your face, bet you'll love it.
Now, I guess theres a lot of stories like this, and people seem to like it. So maybe (most probably) I'm wrong, but I don't like this direction.
