She's so chill. Pun sort of intended.
i feel like MC's production abilities outstrip most other related peoples' in the world. People in the past weren't dumb, they were lacking material and toolery to make modern shit in modern quality at modern speed, as well as many general principles in natural sciences and basic/meta research to formalize their findings. the example i overuse is the construction of dujiangyan, where people had to dig hard rock (for a very advanced piece of waterworks whose design itself is kinda insane, esp for the time) without steel tools (bronze age, 100ish BC) and without using too many bronze tools, so they used fire and river water to crack the rock (heat the rock so it expands, then pour cold river water to make it contract super fast and unevenly, and thus make the surface break apart)

Yeah, that's one of the most common problems with fantasy manga in general. Either the author just doesn't know, or they make everyone dumber and less advanced to make the MC stand out. This manga is fairly good at it, though, in that the MC isn't the only competent one.

well, the others aren't buffoons, to be sure, but the MC still sticks out like a sore thumb for me.
I guess i'm spoiled from world trigger and tsukimichi

Yeah, he's still got his cheats. But they're at limited to his areas, so he's not omnicompetent.

For World Trigger, wouldn't it be that Osamu (who is the actual MC fyi) sticks out BECAUSE he is weak?

Mankind had conquered the arctic regions already back in the stone age. Of course in limited numbers since the frigid regions couldn't support large populations, plus some folks migrated southwards for the coldest part of the winter. Nevertheless, even if people were hardier back then, they still could keep themselves warm enough to survive, without magic. Unless friendship is magic, haha, but this isn't that kind of story.

He "sticks out" because he's comparatively weak... in trion and dexterity. Have you read the latest chapters? Hyuse explains what I feel very succinctly. In terms of team ability and "working with resources," Osamu is nowhere near the bottom of the WT cast. Stopped being near the bottom before round 2, became actually pretty good after round 4-5. Given that these are frankly key in WT, that means Osamu more or less levels out.

Actually, from this angle Osamu and Makoto (tsukimichi) are similar but inverted. Both are imbalanced in one way, but through a variety of restrictions and a focus on something other than their imbalance, they get kinda averaged out. Narratively, they stick out like sore thumbs. But Meta-narratively, that is, when thinking about the story as a world/story separate from our own, they actually fit in quite well. As opposed to this MC.

I haven't kept up with this manga, has it shifted focus to level out the MC's insane production capability? Somehow i doubt it.
