Not gonna lie, I think learning to cook is a necessity for a person who lives alone and takes care of their own needs. True there is always the takeout option, or ramen bricks and hotdogs route, but cooking isn't really all that hard, especially when you have hours and hours of free time and an interwebs connection.

Magic is mostly free, requires a bit of time, and a few trips to the dungeon to refill his mana.

Things also become way faster and more efficient when he gains his second magical class. Dual casting a wall of flames and a wall of water fills a tub with just a couple spells.

You got a point that it's being free and that it is leveling up the skills, heck it might certainly be even cleaner water than using well or river water but I feel like it became a page wasting focus on how he is filling the bath after seeing it a couple of times already.

Maybe it's because we got access to blacksmithing when dwarf joined but this new wife doesn't really seem to be adding much to the dynamic of the group.

She's more of a +1 to be honest, other girls are going to be more or less the same. Roxanne is really special (the best girl ever), Sherry is less so, other girls are good as they are and as party members each in their own way, but they are more for numbers.

why'd onee-chan change to big sister? also, I've thought this before but wasn't MC suicidal and escaping reality through gaming. Why is he so good at cooking. like his knowledge of dishes and how to put things together seems at odds with his character intro. Obv he could very well have fallen into depression, chemical imbalance and all, but then what caused it. I've just been wondering, but maybe that's just me.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised of Miria doesn't know what sex is because it doesn't involve fish.

If I remember well he was bullied and beaten by others kids since elementary school until he learnt enough of Kendo and Aikido to be ostracized instead.
And from what I remember of the web novel, his mom end up dying several years earlier so his dad started to beat him up at home until he became big and strong enough to through back punches.
Since he had no one for several years, he seems logical that he learnt to take care of himself cooking included.

The language barrier is a fresh angle on interactions and gives him something that all three in the group can actually chip in to teach her. She brings a completely different personality that's much more whacky and cheerful compared to even Roxanne. It even adds another layer to the dynamic he has with Sherry, since they have much more in common than any of the 4 members.

Sherry is the tactician and disruptor.
Miria is Crowd control and an assassin
The Dragonkin gets two tower shields and is a full defensive tank
Rutha(the whiny elf) is a backup mage and political advisor to the MC

I'm a bit miffed about the raw food thing. While Japan is definitely the raw fish empire, the rest of the world does have a few recipes with uncooked ingredients, mostly meat.
Just getting this out of my system because these food comics go all high and might about "earth cuisine" and yet feature like five recipes at most, not including hamburger steak.
