Not when you can't open the comment button to lead you to forum.
not until there are a lot of comment already so it display "Read ... older comments"
Well, that's one way to make both sides coexist.
I saw some people talking about some 'testing' before they released it, didn't they saw that coming ?

I really dont like this separate comment/forum direction. There isn't so much interaction with smaller mangas and now separating it even more isn`t going to help it. Showing the last 3 forum comments in the new side bar would be fine, but the current system is a trajectory I really don`t like.

And that it looks like only supporters can even access it while it is still shoved down everybodies throat isn`t making me like it more. I support Mangadex so that other who don't have the funds (like younger me) can still enjoy this for free. I really hope we supporters do NOT get special treatment and MD does not go down the enshittification route.

It took me some time getting used to using the MangaDex forums to "comment" VS the comments section in most sites.

I grew to love the forums. It encourages longer dialogue and makes it a ton easier (or at least possible) to post images and other stuff.

This new update encouraging "comments" is a bad move.

It's been communicated poorly, but the "supporters only" thing here is a temporary testing period. When its ready for a full release, everyone will be able to use the new comment system.

I still think that this new system sucks, but its important to keep this information in mind, especially if you want the mods to take your feedback seriously.

The problem is the 'temporary' part. When mangadex talk about 'a short while', it means a bit more longer than we think.

I don't disagree with that. I'm just saying that, when critiquing it, you should keep in mind that the intention isn't for it to be permanently supporter-only. If that's the focus of your criticism, the moderators will just dismiss the whole thing, even if you do have other criticism as well. They've already shown themselves to do this on the announcement thread for the change.

Nah, nowadays you test in production. It compiles, ship it! Just let the users test your half-baked feature, QA is boring (and expensive).

On a serious note, of course bugs happen, but "non-paying users can create legacy forum threads" doesn't seem like a very advanced use case to me that you would overlook if you really cared about your site being usable by that user group.

Why did they do that, the thing I liked was shitposting after reader the chapter. Is there a official thread about it ?
Well yes but actually no. There was this thread that has the most talk about it in one sensible place, buuuut they locked it. "Bandwagoning" on a shit change apparently is too much for them…

Page 3 towards the bottom is when it starts if you want to read through.

I'd like to see a dedicated forum button (at least in the chapter list), or an option to make the button goto the forums instead.
Having two places already splits the community, so there is no harm in making it easier for people to pick where to talk.

Today I found out that I can't make a new forum/discussion thread for more recent chapters.

Apparently, I need to be a supporter to start a new chapter discussion thread.

Sad 🙁

Also bummed out that I can't point out translation errors 🙁

Do we know what is the intended end solution? Will this new in-chapter panel be connected with the forum comments like it seems to be in testing? Maybe enable you to even post comments while still there in the panel/chapter? Or will those comments be different from forum threads that we had thus far kinda splitting community between both options?

Will clicking on comments button on feed/updates page or on chapters page of each individual manga page - open the chapter with this new panel - fucking with seen/read statuses forcing people to stop caring what they seen, or fight with removing those marks after they reached what they wanted - aka comments, or stop giving a F about comments? Or will they revert back the buttons to opening the forum like it was before, not F with the seen statuses, and just have the new panel open if someone clicks on comments while reading the chapter on the side panel - like it does now while testing? Aka keep the new thing, have it connected to forums and thus far not split community, and get us back to old buttons behaviour on chapter listing pages not damaging the seen statuses?

If in-chapter comments will be different from forum threads - will there be a new button on those chapter listing pages added that would let us go to said forum threads like before? Or will they force us to go directly to forum and manually search for certain manga threads, worse yet manually start a new forum thread for that manga/its chapter if there wasn't one created thus far compared to site doing it automatically previously AFAIK?

I just want to know how shittificated we are talking here about to know how much I need to start looking for a different site or something? We are already forced to go to other sites whenever a group is banned for being greedy assholes, or when DMCA strikes, if they destroy the commenting part and seen statuses letting me easily track what I read or not, or which group I am not reading (but still commenting or at least reading the comments for), then the already kinda thin layer of stuff keeping me using MD would get even thinner :meguuusad:

My suggestion for the site staff to provide more clarity on the change got locked down with no response or reason given. It could be that a particularly vindictive admin didn't want to grant a response to me specifically, and if somebody else were to make a suggestion to the same end, maybe then it would get a response from staff?
